Not a tipi.....a tipi would shed the wind better than this 4 sided mid.

I’m thinking of buying the SO Cimarron. Pros & Cons? Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
We only have a few trips with it. We really like it. We are not stove guys. The porch idea was simple. I added a buckle at the top of the TP and the tarp just clips on. Really nice to have a dry spot to access the TP. I have been running either single wall or floorless for years. I have no reason to mess with double wall tents any more.

I know people have had good luck with many poles, but we ended up using the REI 1" pole because the 3/4" pole failed on us in high winds.

Just our limited experience. There are guys with much more experience than us.

The biggest issue there Bruce is not having any guy outs mid way up the panels. Mids handle wind very well if they’re made so you can stake them out properly.

When you’re in the 6 do you ever wish you were in an 8?

No, because it's just the wife and I. We did start off with a 4-man, but it seemed a little smallish to stand up in (I'm 6'3') so we did sell the 4, and buy a 6.

If we're near the truck, the 12 is always available if we really want to spread out.

I also went back and forth on the 6 vs 8. I think a 6 and 12 is the perfect combo. The 6 is at the upper end of what I would want to pack in solo. Truck camping however the 12 would shine in my eyes. I really am pleased with the 6 and I too am 6'3".

The 12 person SO tipi is pretty big. I think it’s over 11’ at the peak. Here’s a couple more pictures that might give a little better perspective. By way of comparison, the yellow Arctic Oven in the foreground is about 13’x13’ and over 6’ tall.
