Should I thread 9/16 with adapter or have it shouldered and with 5/8?

I know it’s been beat to death. I have read a bunch of them. Basically a local smith has said they will thread it 9/16 and use a precision armament adapter(I don’t know much about them) Or I send it off to kampfields.

I’m sure both are good, but thought I’d ask. Throwing a sythe on a factory 6.5 prc chopped at 20”

I haven’t done it yet, but thinhorn_AK can give you his thoughts on the Kampfield route…

I think the kampfield route is the better route but as it looks so clean. Necessary I I guess is more what I’m asking

I have a Tikka barrel threaded 9/16th that I run an adapter to 5/8s on. It now has over 1000 rounds on it and is still as accurate as a guy could hope for.

Edit to add: I still think direct thread without an adapter is objectively better.

I run 9/16 with the pa adapter on everything if 5/8 won’t work. No problems. However I like the look of the kampfeld better. I do the adapter cuz I can get it threaded local so I less step

After seeing a small amount (enough to be annoying) of inconsistency in POI on one rifle with a 1/2 to 5/8 adapter, I am getting away from them. I know many use them without issue but the correct size direct thread if possible seems to be a much better route.
