Making a memory and adding a little personalization even if it just a simple engraving with his initials adds a lot salt and pepper to whatever gun you decide on. It is the main reason I like handling and cleaning my guns as I replay some of the memories and feelings that are far more valuable than the resale value of the gun.

Strictly a turkey gun? Ever considered a single shot? If it’s strictly turkeys I’d consider that route. Super cheap. You can keep the shorter barrel and set it up with the custom sites, choke’s, stock ect and keep it that way. Super inexpensive to get completely dialed in and built how you like. I’ve got 9 shotguns to choose from and that’s what I use. I’ll be doing the same for my boys. For waterfowl I love a good auto. Pumps are great but in the marsh a good auto is king imo. Other than that ANY of the classic pumps will do. Except a nova! Hate them with a passion! I for one think the SXP is a pretty slick gun. Wouldn’t hesitate to go that route.
