If you really need to read about the basics of marksmanship, check out the free PDFs of USMC marksmanship publications (or Army, I assume they have one too). Start by focusing on weapons handling, safe carries, and field positions.
You just need to be careful which ones you're getting, and from when ... didn't one of them stated that the impact of humidity or air pressure was the exact opposite of what it actually does?

My dad was a marine and taught me a lot about safe handling, but I’ll be starting from 0 on field positions. I’ll search for these and see what I can find. Thank you guys.

Form is a stickler for a good standing position. Very by-the-book.

Unless it is the new AMTP manual from the USMC, I would highly suggest NOT learning anything from a military manual.
Hey man I shot like a day a year in the military, MEGA training to be had in our armed forces 🤣. Part of that day was cleaning worn out guns too!

Form - how much shooting instruction (if any) are you missing out on by doing the bear hunt course instead of the shooting only course?

I’d love to take this course and will sign up for a session when they are available again. I primarily hunt in Texas and have never shot beyond 300 yards. I’ve never had the opportunity in the field or at a range. In fact, I’ve never shot an animal beyond 100 yards- although I have had the opportunity. I’m buying a new scope and I’ve always used an moa duplex reticle. I get that FFL mil will be better for the course, but will it be unusable for my distance of hunting?

Also- for the course, would you all ever do a private course or would that be too difficult to replicate? I have a 10 year old daughter who would love this type of formal instruction too, but I think would be really intimidated by the class setting.
