Keep your eyes peeled for another 5.56 option early next month. I think you’ll like it 👍🏼
It’s good stuff so far.

When I get back from Germany in a couple weeks I’ll post up a range and velocity report from a Tikka bolt action it @h2so4 is cool with it.

I am about the buy 1000 "AAC 5.56 NATO Ammo 77 Grain OTM" but I have no idea if they "shoot well" in my 223.

I have not shot the 77gr otm, but I have put about 500 of their 75gr bthp through my .223. The 75's seem to do pretty well for the price. Ten round groups about 1.25-1.5". I chrono'ed 26 rounds today, ES of 110fps SD of 27fps.

Another option for 77gr ammo, @h2so4 provided some Bone Frog .223 ammo loaded w 77gr hpbt for testing. My Tikka liked it… 18” barrel. Avg 2615fps. Max spread around 50fps over 20 rounds.
Shot 10 fairly quick, checked group
Shot another 10 faster, checked group
0.2 mil Right adjustment
Plugged in a BC of 0.350 and walked it out to 600, windage missed 1st shot at 6, corrected and no drama.
I believe those are loaded with the Barnes match burners. A buddy of mine shoots those through his 18” gasser with great results.

Yes Barnes. I was very impressed, for a factory load. , I wasn’t shooting slow on the second set of 10 and honestly wasn’t waiting for a perfect picture through the scope, just to say the 20 rounds group could have been smaller.

I wish those match burners had a better BC. It’s only .349, while a TMK is .418 or so

Finally pulled the trigger and will be joining you guys in the June 9th class

Now for ammo, should we be ordering 1000 rounds of 223/556 or will say 800 (they come in 200 round cases) suffice if the 223 tikka is sighted in and using known comments that hold zero?

Outside of better BC and less wind holds, is it still advised to buy the 75/77 grain ammo or will 55s be just fine?

AAC 77gr at 0.50 per is hard to beat. They should add you to class info thread, but I believe 1000rounds of .223 and if you bring a second rifle 2-300 rounds for it.

You want the heavier bullets. Unless your flying in and don't want anything left over just get 1000. It's pretty easy to go hard at the end and burn up any extra. I was shooting 30 round groups and seeing how fast I could go from standing to a 1ish moa 10 round group. Cough "20 seconds" cough. Practice that drill 5 or six times and @Formidilosus will teach you the proper way to cool a barrel (dump a water bottle on it).

Appreciate the info

I’ll be picking up a t3 lite in 223 (will be threaded and suppressed). I’ve seen some people mentioning larger capacity mags that work with factory bottom metal (plastic lol). Is there a consensus on what mags to bring and how many for guys using factory T3’s?

I used a krg bravo stock which allowed me to use 10 round aics magazines. I was very happy with my set up!!!! There's aftermarket dbms that allow aics mags if you have a ctr stock.

Waters rifleman mags work very well. They are expensive however.
These seem to be doing well, and I would personally try them-

At least 1x 10 round mag. Two is better. Plus your factory mag.
