I wouldn't have won a <1 Club hunt if I didn't go, so it was and has been worth it to me. That is what got me going in the first place and it was not an easy decision to decide to go the first year I did. Coming from Pennsylvania, I consider it a small vacation in winter and enjoy the friendships, experiences, raffles, banquets and all that it offers. To me, I feel like I'm with family and everyone enjoys a shared passion and time there. There is just so much to do and it seems that there is more and more added every year.

It is a pretty cool show. It is what you make of it. There is definitely a very clear group of insiders that are giddy to pat each other on the back and pass out awards to each other. I go mainly for the drawings and the slight chance of winning a sheep hunt. I like seeing the few outfitters that I have hunted with but that's secondary to the raffles.

My wife and I are talking of going. A couple of questions for those who have been:

Is the attached Casio/hotel the best place to stay?

Best to rent a car or Uber from airport? How's parking?

Other things to do in close proximity?

She is not a big hunter and the Casio is not our scene, but she would enjoy the trip if we stayed in a nice hotel with some fine dining around.

It is worth going.

They are .8 of a mile apart. I have only been at what used to be called the Nugget.

New format gives more room.

Fine dining? There are a million places to eat, it is a casino town. Everyone's definition of that is different.

Best place to stay depends on your preferences for the show. The Peppermill is handy for going to the evening festivities and life member breakfast. They run a shuttle to the convention center. Hotel has a shuttle from/to the airport so no need to rent a vehicle unless you want to go to Tahoe part of the time. Plenty of free parking if you do rent.

Been twice and will be there this year. Much prefer the Peppermill. As stated, shuttle to the convention center and airport. Have never needed a car.

Does anyone have recommendations on which entry to purchase? The full entry is $550ish and get you access to everything or you can purchase things Al a cart. Just wondering from those who have been if the full entry is the way to go, or if the auction nights aren’t worth it? Are the seminars good? Any pro tips on the agenda and what to attend would be helpful.

My .02 is that if you aren't realistically going to bid at an auction, it's not worth getting the ticket for that event. Except for possibly the Sat. night banquet. The food is generally pretty good, but fairly expensive just to buy the ticket for the food. So a la carte would likely. be the better approach.

I live in Reno so I don't have the commitment of traveling, but the Sheep show is a great time.

Thinking of going to the Sheep Show in 2023. Has anyone been and have an opinion on whether or not its "worth it?" I'm not a rich guy....I wouldn't win any auctions so would be going more to catch up with outfitters in person, and maybe get involved in a raffle only available to people who are there. Just curious really to see what its all about and check the box

Thoughts?
Did you end up going?

I didn't go this year, but a friend of mine was there and his only comment was that there were a lot of open spaces in the vendor hall. Doesn't look like a recession hurt the sale of the premier tags though.

I was there. I only saw a couple of open spots in the vendor hall and the area to the right was larger than last year.

Did get sticker shock on the price of Dall hunts. Significant increase over prior year and many outfitters booking into 2026

Hell there are Kyrg Morco Polo Ibex combo hunts for the same price as Dall's Sheep hunts. Also, talked to a good friend and guide and with the Dall's hurting he 100% believe in 3-5 years those hunts will be $50K+

I’m hearing kyrg isn’t doing Marco Polo hunting for awhile, and for 2022 the heads are waiting to be shipped still

Outfitters I talked to and a good friend who is a booking agent said it sounds like it will get worked out and hunts will be happening. Either way book the hunt and when it reopens should be some big ones running around.

The show was a great time once again! I only saw a handful of open spots but the overall show was bigger than last year. Yeah prices for all northern hunts are up but it hasn’t slowed bookings. All good outfitters are booking in ‘25 or ‘26. If you think Dalls are expensive look at a stone hunt in the top areas or even a moose hunt in the Yukon or NWT!!!
