Who’s at WSF convention this week? My wife and I flew in on Tuesday. We have been going for the past four years and absolutely love this show!

Glad someone posted this. I know several people going this year, including a couple on the slide. Keen to get their feedback. Never been, but I'm definitely planning to go next year.

I went for several years in a row. Primarily because of the draws for hunts I am eligible for. Loved it the first couple of years but it got a little like “Groundhog Day” after a few years. So I’m taking a break. To everyone going: Have fun!

I’m in Reno for my first Sheep Show and had a great time yesterday. Good conversations with outfitters, opportunities to touch and see new gear, 20% off entire Sitka product line, caught a good film…

Been awake for hours on East Coast time waiting for the doors to open again.

Yes. Exhibitors and crowd seems up already, have not seen the entire venue yet. Prices are out of control on everything.

When one goes to the sheep show there is a great sense of hope and a crushing sense of reality. A good buddy won $1000 floor credit yesterday. He immediately walked over to the membership booth and bought a life membership. Now he’s in forever at a chance to win a desert sheep hunt. I hope his lucky steak continues tomorrow!

If you realize the auctions are a great source of entertainment because you are never going to win even the smallest items it is a lot easier to take.

I kind of think it’s time for a change of venue for Sheep Show. I can cover the show in a day easily and I always feel “stuck” in Reno without much else to do that’s not directly tied to the show. I’m not a big casino guy so I imagine that plays into it.

Heading home from the show now. This was my second time going. Last year I was talking to a lot of outfitters because I was looking to book a hunt so I was more engaged in that aspect of it. This year I casually talked to a few but mostly spent the time wandering around. It seems like a great show if you’re in the market for a hunt. I could take it or leave it when it comes to looking at gear since I’ve already got way too much of that at home!

I’ll plan on going again next year I’m sure. It’s pretty fun and something to do when it’s the middle of January.

Watching guys blow $90,000 for an antelope tag or $140,000 for an elk tag is interesting to say the least.

Are all the raffles and in-person hunt give aways over at this point, or were you not interested in staying for those? I would have thought tonight would be a grand finale of sorts....are you "missing" anything by leaving? Not meaning to be critical of you in any way, just trying to plan for next year and understand the sequence of things.
