I just got back to camp so here's what happened.
I hiked in early this morning and set up for the buck and his harem to come strolling in at the location they were yesterday. I had a good spot with all my lanes ranged out. Well nothing came in but a doe and a spike at around 7:30. I thought for sure that the whole herd was going to come rolling in but they never did. At around 9:00 I decided that I would start moving north in and out of draws hoping that maybe they went up a different way. As I crossed the first draw nothing. When I came up and over the next finger I felt good about it and waited for a plane to fly over to cover my sound of walking. As soon as I crested the top I seen 3 does and the buck right behind them. I froze before they saw me but they looked my way and froze as well. I slowly pulled out my rangefinder and it read 50yrds. They still didn't run! I nock an arrow and they still didn't run! I draw back and settle my pin right on his vitals and let it fly but right as I released they started to bolt and the arrow shattered his back femur and it flopped like he had been hit by a rifle shot. He turned around to head downhill with three legs and stopped at 78yrds slightly quartering away. I rushed the follow up shot and it stuck him right next to his eye. Now he is moving real slow to the bottom of the draw. I watch him lay down and I range him at 75yrds. I know he's not going anywhere so I take off my backpack and shooting gloves, take a deep breath to relax and put one straight thru the heart. He jumped about 10yrds and expired almost immediately.

I wish they would've waited about 1 second or so before jumping the string but it still worked out. That's hunting
