I made it to 100 yards but the does knew something was up and pulled the big boy out. Same escape route as last year. Dang does!
He's a lot bigger up close
I'll help a bit. Jim is kinda pinned down. He lost visual on one of the bucks in the group and has a Doe feeding @ 40 yards. Good chance the lost buck is VERY nearby. He is waiting him out.
Sorry guys the does are making it tough but it's fun. I stayed put earlier for about 2 hrs after I seen the last doe pull out hoping there was another buck still holding tight but nothing so I decided to hike over to the next ridge and glass. Didn't see anything in the next canyon but guess what I seen heading back to where I was? The same herd! At least I didn't spook them so I'll be getting there early in the morning for an ambush. Not counting myself out yet though for the day. As I was crossing back across a canyon to get where I am now set up for ambush, I bumped a nice 4x4 with only one doe (that's what I need for a stalk).
I'm seeing a decent amount of deer so far and I think it's only gonna get better
