Seekins 6.5 prc problems

I have a seekins element 6.5 prc that I sent back to seekins, they gave me a complete new gun.

I'm having in consistent pressure spikes. Hard bolt lifts and flat primers.
Factory ammo hornady 147 eld m
Factory nosler accubonds.
Multiple handloads with multiple powders, primers, bullets, etc
Berger, hammer, nosler, seirra, hornady bullets.

On average 3in groups.


My dad has been helping, he's reloaded 46 years years. We both have multiple guns capable of well under 1/2in groups constantly. I also handload.

Glen seekins had offered to give me another caliber or another gun. But still I'm at a loss.

Dad's got a 6 creed in a ph2 that shoots amazing in a seekins he loves. Im not here to bash seekins. Just curious if anyone else has had issues

Nobody on Rokslide has that problem. Everyone owns a Tikka! LOL.

If you swap the scope with another known to be good, check torque on the base, and groups are still 3” I’d take them up on the offer for a different cartridge, or at least return it again for accuracy reasons. That’s a bummer to have to struggle with something that should be easy.

It would be interesting to know the backstory to the problem - did they get a batch of extra tight barrels, did a batch of reamers make weird chambers, etc? I’ll bet if it happened to you twice it happened to a lot of other people.

With blessing from Glen, hopefully they give you one of those extra accurate rifles that are set aside for employees and special clients.

Bummer, generally Seekins rifles do very well without too many hiccups.

I’d take another new rifle (provided it was tested before the send to you). Or see if you can get a full refund.

I’ve had two Seekins rifles and both have shot very well. Sorry you haven’t had the same experience!

This-not specific to Seekins, but when this kind of issue arises in a new rifle, short of bad ammo batches (don't think that is the case here obviously), it is highly plausible its a chamber spec issue

Yes.
I’ve also had a dragging firing pin cause ignition problems and big accuracy issues.

It’s always suspenseful when something like this happens - hopefully it gets resolved and find out what caused it.

The elements seem more issue prone, I wouldn’t want one.

Had 2 ph/ph2 300 WMs that didn’t shoot 212s or 215s acceptably for me. Put a bartlein on rather than trying a third and it has been easy living ever since.

I just hate to put a new barrel on a new sub $3k gun
