going forward I think we will be back to winter calving to lesson fly impact. We hit high 80’s in early March this year in NTX/panhandle

Lots of folks calving yet? Just about every one around here is done. I imagine down in texas most calve out in January to March?

True, but I planted tomatoes January 23rd in South Texas. No frost!
Remember, northern states migrate to south Texas in the winter because it's so warm. They're call "Snow Birds".
The RGV (Rio Grande Valley) is also called the "Winter Garden"! Citrus fruits are big crops in the RGV!
Screw worm flies are worse on newborns. They lay eggs in the navel before it dries.
That's just one entry point! Between the cactus, mesquite and other thorny plants, all the screw worm fly needs is broken skin. Not to mention barbed wire fences!
