If you had to pick one 4 day period, when would you guys/gals pre-scout for elk and mule deer to fill your rifle tags? One trip for elk and another for mule deer. Thanks

I’d pick the 4 days prior to the opening of the season I was hunting. Nothing better than the most recent information.

Rifle tags that aren't in September the animals will likely have moved around so summer scouting can be tough. Not that it's not valuable but you need some additional information to put everything together.

Agreed. Especially if it's later in the season and things have been pressured already.

Assuming days before season isn't an option I would do mid to late August.
