Scope Zero Check Thread

Zero check. Been bouncing around on rough roads since February.

Tikka 6.5 cm in modified factory stock
Swfa 3x9 in sportsmatch rings.
Scythe ti (the weakest link)
147 eldm handloads

Rifle is zeroed for a nonlead rd. 147 intended zero is .2 mils low. So this is still dead on. Have the difference built into my ballistics app.

The tikka swfa thing has been a game changer. No longer running around with my head cutoff due to vortex and Leupold.

Initial Zero. Rifle was recently cut down to 20” and threaded, only had minimal ammo left and I didn’t want to load more until I got a zero and got to make sure it still shot well.

Black target was initial zero the other evening. 5 rounds. KRG target was 2 additional 5 round groups. Zero is set so will check it later this season. If I end up hunting with this rifle.. the 7 PRC may get carried.

Checked again today. Has been on a work trip and shot 129 wild goats since the zero check above. Still good within 0.1MRAD. Used a pretty shit aiming point. This March gets used heavily, not babied. It is reliable. No issues with the Talleys either

Hadn't checked this in a while. 5 rd quick check today. March, Talleys, Remington combination continues to be 100% functional.

First 10 since the last time shot, new box same lot#. Still zeroed... with in a mil of last 2 10rd groups


Adjusted .1 R, shot 10



Came down .1



Went out to 509 to true up. elevation 3.4, shooter app had 3.2. Shot 5, two are just off to the right marked with yellow paint pen




Looking back at my last two targets 10rd each (1st was -.08 ele and-.03 wind and 2nd was .12 ele and -.40 wind), what I thought was a shift in zero was in hind sight was not a dead on zero. I should have shot a 30rd adj and then confirm.

Lessons relearned (again)- buy and bring the right amount of ammo to do things the right way from the start. Take better notes. Number your groups as you shoot its all to easy to get it mixed up as the day wears on, ecspecially when everthing wants to fight you along the way. Write it down, you're not going to remember.
And now because I rushed it, I am going to have to reconfirm zero again.

Maybe I am reading your post wrong. Are you zeroing your turret or trying to remember where your POI zero is up from zero on the turret?

Not sure I understand exactly what you’re asking. But…

The top bit was adjustments made. As previous zero (my post on the last page) wasn’t zeroed to POA due to lack of group size. I thought it was but I was .1 high and .1 left.

The bottom bit was the previous zero/groups offset from poa. My first 10rd from this weekend was within .1 of the others. So still zeroed. But not to poa.
