Scope Zero Check Thread

Initial Zero. Rifle was recently cut down to 20” and threaded, only had minimal ammo left and I didn’t want to load more until I got a zero and got to make sure it still shot well.

Black target was initial zero the other evening. 5 rounds. KRG target was 2 additional 5 round groups. Zero is set so will check it later this season. If I end up hunting with this rifle.. the 7 PRC may get carried.

143 ELDx over H4350 for a 10 shot average of 2550 fps.

Checked again today. Has been on a work trip and shot 129 wild goats since the zero check above. Still good within 0.1MRAD. Used a pretty shit aiming point. This March gets used heavily, not babied. It is reliable. No issues with the Talleys either

Hadn't checked this in a while. 5 rd quick check today. March, Talleys, Remington combination continues to be 100% functional.

Went out to 509 to true up. elevation 3.4, shooter app had 3.2. Shot 5, two are just off to the right marked with yellow paint pen




Looking back at my last two targets 10rd each (1st was -.08 ele and-.03 wind and 2nd was .12 ele and -.40 wind), what I thought was a shift in zero was in hind sight was not a dead on zero. I should have shot a 30rd adj and then confirm.

Lessons relearned (again)- buy and bring the right amount of ammo to do things the right way from the start. Take better notes. Number your groups as you shoot its all to easy to get it mixed up as the day wears on, ecspecially when everthing wants to fight you along the way. Write it down, you're not going to remember.
And now because I rushed it, I am going to have to reconfirm zero again.

Maybe I am reading your post wrong. Are you zeroing your turret or trying to remember where your POI zero is up from zero on the turret?

Not sure I understand exactly what you’re asking. But…

The top bit was adjustments made. As previous zero (my post on the last page) wasn’t zeroed to POA due to lack of group size. I thought it was but I was .1 high and .1 left.

The bottom bit was the previous zero/groups offset from poa. My first 10rd from this weekend was within .1 of the others. So still zeroed. But not to poa.

I had a 6.5 PRC and youth trainer rifle in the front seat with my exo pack on top.

I pulled the exo pack out and out came the 223 to bounce on the concrete. Mark on the turret could be old but I think it's new and the suppressor is ground up.

@Bluumoon has been ghosting my texts and DMs to borrow gear.

It's full value 6-9mph wind here with 2 hurricanes passing by. The target is shaky and I shot fast. 10" LOP too...3mph gun with the 55s.

I'm calling it good.

The ammo is Sierra #1345s loaded light and incidentally our 77gr TMKs hit the same zero.

Took the 6.5 PRC out to 300 yesterday to double check my zero before heading out to CO next week.

Initial zero on boy's new rifle. Cut factory stock down 1.25" until I can get something better on it. Initial shot, adjusted over 2 MOA and fired 3. Up 6 MOA for 1 shot, down 12 for 1 shot, up 6 to confirm. Didn't get a pic of the target on our next trip for an additional 60 rounds. Was dropped (by him) twice and banged against the 4R. No shift in-between this group and the next 60. Will update through the season.

Time/Activity Since Last Zero: 7,000ish rounds fired. Minimum 6,000 miles in Jeep/Truck on back roads. Dozens and dozens of field days. This gun has been all over the western US and used heavily.

Results: Shot the group before I realized that the scope had dialed itself up 0.1 MIL (Maven aggressive knurling strikes again). I was rushing and should have checked it.

I have a couple of Arkens that hold zero pretty well, first shots out of the bag after 400 miles including 50 of rough dirt.
16 inch plate at 1100 yards (about 1.4 moa)
Rifles are zeroed at 110 yards at sea level, and corrections for elevation and atmospherics were dialed, obviously.

Used the same rifle today. Huron 3-12 is still on. However, took a hard hit on some lava rock today on the pack out. Cover was on. Will get out and verify there were no shifts.

This was honestly cool to see. Even though it’s more of a fluke than anything haha.

This 6.5-7 of mine has been uncased in the truck for over 3000 miles, been strapped to my pack TIGHT for dozens of miles and has killed 4 animals in 3 states since I last checked it. I haven’t shot it at paper since early September.

This was the first shot out of it at 100 yards this morning. I planned to shoot a group, but had to walk down and take this picture after the first shot lol.

seems slightly off, should recheck you torque specs and ammo or hell, buy a whole new setup because this is trash!
