I know many of you will say just get Area 419, Hawkins, ARC etc but I'm not spending that on rings.

I'm asking about Vortex Pro vs Vortex Precision Matched vs Athlon Armor vs Athlon Precision vs Arken Halo, Warne Hyperlite etc

Are there real gains there? If so, does the price justify the gains?

This is for a Savage 110 Tactical 6.5cm in an MDT XRS with probably a Helos BTR G2 6-24 so I'm not pinching ounces.

I like the UM rings, but only on sale.

At the low end of the scale, I like the CCOP rings. They are steel and feel quite sturdy. I’m using them with picatinny bases on a couple of Mausers and they have been great so far.

I've had a cpl sets of Vortex, I went back to NF ultralights for the Ti crossbolts and torque spec of 65ip. Two or three swipes with a lapping bar and all is good.

I got tikka um rings and a trijicon scope. Windage was dead on very first shot. I wound up going with a different scope with Warne rings. Could have been pure luck with the unknown munitions but the other combo didn't do that. Both have a recoil lug system um is more robust.

Used the vortex rings on hunting rifles without a problem. I like hawkins and area 419 mounts and rings also. Good stuff for sure.

Aren't the vortex precision ones just re badged sequins rings? if so, aren't sequins rings known to have POI changes when dropped?

I don’t know about POI changes when dropped, but some have reporting cracking of the rings.

I used them on a 22 for years without issue. Now I have NF rings on though.
I have some sort of vortex rings on my 22 as well, never had an issue with them but probably wouldn't choose them for a hunting rifle.

IIRC, Area 419 and Grey Ops both had issues with their rings in the past year so spending more isn't necessarily a guarantee of anything. Spuhr also comes to mind, with issues.

I've had Talley ringmounts and Leupold dual dovetail crack, but I haven't had any issues with Seekins including low height (with the least meat near the clamp). I've used a bunch of them, starting back when Glen was basically a one or two man machine shop.

I really like the Burrs XTR Signature, but they can be heavy depending on model. You can add elevation with the inserts, up to 40 MOA +/- depending on ring spacing.

For $125 the steel Mark 4 rings are more solid than any aluminum ring and have a track record going back to the 1990s. If you aren’t pinching ounces it’s a lot of bang for the buck.

The all steel Sig rings are half the price of the Leupold and still stronger than any aluminum mounts. I bought a pair just to check them out and they work.
