LIfe of LED doesn't bother me. It is mechanical though. You have to understand the risk of it failing. The arguement for LED has been for most of us, it is still useful, once the LED fails.

I realize scope technology changes, scopes 10 years from now will be better. But I still expect to be using my scopes 10 years from now, and buying new ones too.

I have cheap packages scopes, and leupolds, never had a problem seeing the rectile out of the box. Adjust it it, helped. I don't think it is great.

I have a feeling it will not be good enough for deer hunting, where I stay out to the bitter end of daylight. Elk hunting in strange areas, I may not be pushing the hours as much, as I do 30 yards way, in areas I know.

Be interesting to see it at dusk. I got nikon, shot fine, but you could sure see the difference against VX2, a ways out from dark.

But I am going to answer the question can I shoot any better with it. heavier rings and scope, should also help that. Not sure enough to notice.

Maybe I should have known this is not for hunters. Look at the cool tactical look and just rifles in the ad. Though for defense, I would hunt super heavy recticle that I can easily see if my life counted on it. But to play at range, it might be fun.

You guys should look through a cheap ass, savage package scope.

I haven’t looked through a Credo but it seems to me that even if you lose sight of the fine centre crosshairs that you’d be able to bracket your target fairly easily with the thicker outside reticle.

The risk of it failing is near 0%
everything mechnical fails.

There is thread on here with a guy who said his failed, frustrated how many months of sending the scope back and forth to trijicon. Finally got a accupoint because he also didn't like the recticle

I am not big fan of just guessing where my center is by using the outside thick recticle. Not saying you don't have to at times.

Someone else said the laser lasted on battery 17 hours in his safe. I thought that was low, but what he posted. So do you changed batteries daily? I know some guy will guy will just say turn it off. But you have to be ready for human performance issues. I was surprised that it didn't turn off on its own. I thought they were supposed to, but never tested it.

Again the argument for many of us, has been if the LED fails, or gets old, you can always use it like a standard scope.

Low rings do fit. Front bell only clears in one spot. Maybe if I didn't have a rail. Gun came with rails, and I like being able to move scope, Though I am sure once I find the right spot will never move again,

Yes, contrast that with the odds of a Leupold failing to hold zero or track properly.
I am trying to decide if this is internet hysteria or not. Thousands of deer are killed every year with leupold. Most people I know, it is what they use. I shot one with a redfield 20 years ago.

There are a couple people on this forum using leupold.

I don't why I'm writing this, since you don't seem to listen to the people trying to help you, but I was where you are several years ago. I had a pile of gold rings that mostly worked fine for killing stuff. They always needed rezeroed (= failures), they absolutely did not track when trying to adjust at the shooting range (= failures), adjustments took time to settle in (= failure) and the zero bounced around when shooting to make me think it was my form (= failure). I did have one completely shit the bed too.

Since changing to reliable scopes I don't have these problems at all.

Other than the one that shit the bed, I doubt in actual use any of this stuff would have mattered to me in terms of killing game, the variations were too small to be seen on game shot at less than several hundred yards. They work fine in day in and day out use on game until you get out there in range or until they shit the bed.

My complaint is that they did waste me an absolute shit ton of ammo and they affected my confidence and retarded my progression as a shooter, for those reasons I always get sucked into these threads to try to help out others.

everything mechnical fails.

Everything mechanical fails...where is that attitude about your rifle scopes?

The worry of an LED that has zero mechanical functionality is misplaced. All it is doing (in a rifle scope) is shining and catching the reticle. There is nothing to align, no tracking needed, no bulb replacement, no care, very literally all it needs is a battery.

Someone else said the laser lasted on battery 17 hours in his safe. I thought that was low, but what he posted. So do you changed batteries daily? I know some guy will guy will just say turn it off. But you have to be ready for human performance issues.

Yes, you turn it off and if you need it, you turn it on.

I genuinely believe you would be best served with an aimpoint pro for every single use case you have described in this thread. It solves 100% of the things you bring up as problems and would have positive results.

I feel like your last sentence is bait.

I have listened, I got this scope, which is now on my. Rifle I listened and got the credo, when I think I should have got the accupoint.

I have been on forums for over 20 years. I have seen a lot of hysteria and clicks, and favorites. For a while something is the favorite, until its not.

I don't think I have had an issue with losing zero. Though other than falling over, mine don't abused a lot. They do spend 600 miles a weekend in my truck.

I am starting to believe the lagging and tracking issues. Will see when I sight in this new scope.

Though I am a set it and forget it guy. I do wonder if I was wasting lots of ammo sighting.

Though one of the best pieces of advices I taken these this year, is do not adjust your scope until you have a grouping.

I did this as much to have a better scope, as to build confidence, one way or other. Though if I still suck, I still suck.

Thread on here guy had LED fail. Maybe infant mortality syndrome, Bathtub curve for failures. Items fail at the beginning and end of their life.

I am not the first person on this forum to raise concerns with how thin the recticle, but you act like I just pooped on the kitchen floor.

If you send it back, here are some alternatives that I wouldn't have an issue with a family member having on their rifle for "set and forget" shooting inside and around 100 yards.

Good luck.

This risk of me forgetting to turn it off and draining the battery at some point is near 100%.

If you only want it on to shoot 1 in 1,000 instances, why would you leave it on?

In theory your hunt would be over at the end of that instance, so just replace the battery as part of your meat packaging process. Just the same as one replaces nitrile gloves in their kill kit or washing game bags.
