In this day and age of digital-everything, there is one hard-copy mailer I still like to see in my mailbox and I actually read it. It's the Schnee's catalog. It' pretty small and always features their hunting gear- like Stone Glacier, Schnee's boots, and Sitka Gear plus a bunch of other high quality clothing and the like.

I reached out to them to get the link for any of you who'd like to subscribe. Sometimes it's just nice to sit in the easy chair and read something I can hold.

Seems like it comes out every few months. The "Hunting" edition is out now.

If you are into over priced "heirloom" quality, they are the outfit to go to. Being from Bozeman, this is another great small town company that went in the crapper after new ownership.

Maybe on some of their items like ranchwear, etc. but I disagree. We've ran their boots and found great quality in the Bridgers, Absarokas, and Hunter pacs for the price. They sell SG packs and can fit you right plus the guys I know who bought them said the price was competitive.

Their boots are top shelf for sure.

Hey Robby they dropped SG this year, they only sell MR now.....Just an FYI for anyone shopping. I asked them why last time I was in the store, sounded like they just chose to switch since MR since they are still local but have a wider line to feature besides packs built specifically for hunting.

Wyatt, thanks. I forgot they went to MR. Another good quality pack. Must of been some politics to keep them from offering both SG/MR

Definitely politics involved there. I'm not sure if I only ran into the duds, but I would periodically stop in and check out the packs and not once was anyone knowledgeable about them at all. Was either a young fella or an older gentleman (Im assuming neither used the pack) and would just continually say "oh great pack, such a good pack, awesome pack"..almost sounded like a Donald trump speech for whichever, both MR & SG. Hell they didn't even know how the load shelf works. I would guess based on experiences talking to them that very few employees actually use the gear they sell. They do make great boots though. Friends and family have used their pacs for years.

Same experience here with the packs - I've yet to talk to anyone in hat store that knew a thing about backpacks. Hate to say it, but that's how it's been regardless of the brand carried.

What I wrote was based on my trip up there in 2014. Pete and Tom were the guys who helped me and Pete was pretty knowledgeable about the packs, Tom the boots. Neither of them are there now so I might get what you're saying.

Admittedly, I do want to try there hiking boots, they did feel like a winner in the store. The only reason that I went with Kenetrek, is that I used their newer pack boots for several years without success. Rubber and leather prematurely failing and management wanting to charge ridiculous fees for repair.

I did by my SG pack from them because it was the only option at the time and I knew how to fit myself with help from Kurt.
