Saddle recommendations

Latitude Saddles are made in the US. The method 2 is a good option.

I started out my saddle adventure last season with the Latitude Method 2. I did the Camp Ripley bow hunt in Minnesota. I was a little worried I'd have trouble hanging all day, but I was very comfortable. Maybe even more so then in a compact hang-on stand.

I can't compare to some of the other popular saddles, but this one left fairly little to be desired. The only real problem I had was it pushing down off my butt while I was walking because my pack overlapped a bit. I'm looking for a different pack which may help with that.

I carry four Helium full length climbing sticks because I'm not young and rubbery enough to deal with aider loops after getting chilly and stiff all day.

I am in my early 50s, 185 lb, and with no serious physical ailments.

Saddles are like packs to me, no reason to buy something not made in the USA. There are so many good options and companies. I had a CRUZR XC which was awesome but I was using a back band on longer sits so I decided to get a two panel.

I have a buzzard roost now and I’m very pleased with it. I live close to where they are made and it felt good to send my money their way.

I have heard nothing but good things about the XCV's. I have been using an Overwatch Orion for the last 3 seasons, before that I had a tethrd Phantom. I did not like the hip pinch I got from the Phantom. I hunted 7 of the first 8 days of the season this year with no saddle soreness, no getting in saddle shape. Two of the sits were dark to dark and one of them was 6 hrs in the morning and 3 hrs in the afternoon. I also do not use a back band with the saddle. The Orion is similar to the XC in that it is a pleated saddle however it has adjuster straps that allow to you adjust the amount of pleat not just open or closed. When I do all day sits I will adjust the pleat everyone every couple hours to adjust where the pressure is. Walking with a pleated saddle on with the leg straps fastened is not as comfortable as walking with a Phantom however I just clip the leg straps behind my legs when I walk in and reclip them around my legs when I get to the tree. I am 5'11" , 185 lbs and 55 yrs old. The Orion's are assembled in Kentucky by the designer and owner of Overwatch, Jamie Cline.
