Rubber boots for spring Peninsula Brown bear.......

If you are gonna do rubber boots, please look at Lacross Alpha Burley pros. They are a fantastic boot.
They are alright if your fine with getting 2 years out of them. Mine always get breaking rubber on the sides of my foot. I sprayed mine with flex seal to see how it holds up, probably going to try grundens deviation talls next.

Though we weren’t bear hunting, but caribou and moose hunting, near Naknek Alaska, I used sorrel rubber boots, I think the La Cross knee high with extra felt liners would have been better then my calf boots, we had 1-3 inches of standing water everywhere we went and avoided any boggy areas.
Extra alpaca, yak hiking weight socks , extra felt in the day pack are a must IMO
Best of luck on your journey,
Take more pocket money then you expect, because king salmon and Naknek
Are two of the most expensive places I have been in Alaska and I am sure the farther villages away from them only gets more expensive .

That’s wild I’ve had 2 pairs in 4 years n have one pair away, still being hunted today
Wish mine lasted longer, they are the most comfortable rubber boot i have owned. I do wear them a ton though. Maybe wearing them around and in the saltwater dries them out quicker and makes them more prone to cracking.

Honestly, I would never wear anything again but stocking foot waders and a wading boot. Water protection for any situation and much better foot support.

I used to go through a pair of muck arctic sports every 1.5-2 years. I work and hunt in rubber boots most of the fall through spring and the mucks would either delaminate at the sole or crack at the bend on top of my foot. I switched to the neoprene upper xtratuffs and have probably 4 years on the first pair. I picked up a second pair on clearance and now rotate between the 2. Mud traction isn’t great, but for ice and compact snow they are way better than a lug sole. Also nice for slick floors/roofs.

The saltwater may have something to do with it. I’m telling you now, the kuiu are made by scarpa and I put them one once and gave away my lacrosse. I loved the knee high kuiu so much I got the ankle ones too

Interesting, few posts back you said you love the lacrosse and have 2 pairs, one you have worn for a few years and other pair ready once your first pair goes out, now you say you ditched them for kuiu?

Yea, I have a ton of boots. I’m 42 years old. Last season was my first season with the kuiu.
Once it gets warm the boots like the lacrosse burly and kuiu are just too warm, so I wear the grange just about anytime I go in the woods. I still keep my alphas at the hunting camp. I had two pairs. When I got the kuiu I gave a pair of the burly away, to a very good friend who started hunting this year and that’s all he wore. My kuiu knee boots are dedicated hunting boots. If I jump in the woods to screw around or find and clean deer, hang stands, work a trail or whatever and it’s not warm, I now wear my old pair of lacrosse. It keeps me from stinking up, bloodying up or wearing out my kuiu prematurely. The burlys are still comfy, the kuiu are very comfy as well. They are just a dedicated hunting boot where the burlys have taken a seat as a winter work boot

I prefer the Muck woody max boots (just got a new pair after ~10 years). They have a good lug sole and grip fairly well....however, they will sweat like crazy if it's warm or your feet sweat easily...hard to avoid that in general with rubber boots though
I think muck boots a good
