Kind of related, but shooting fixed broadheads (Exodus) is there a reason to shoot 3 fletch v 4 fletch? And secondarily would a low profile vane in 4 fletch (ie AAE Max Stealth) be equal in stability to a higher profile 3 fletch (ie AAE Max Hunter)?
Four fletch=more drag which equates to guidance required to offset the planing effects of your fixed blades. The more blade surface area you have will generally be less forgiving and may require more fletch (larger vanes, more helical, or more vanes- take your pick). Test out what works for your set up. Be aware that it’s a game of compromises. Too much drag can be detrimental to drop!and wind drift, despite the benefits of it having on controlling broadhead flight.
Field points and expandible heads do not require nearly as much drag in the rear. That’s why a well tuned bow can shoot accurately with a bare shaft even when nothing is making the arrow plane on the front.
