RokStok

Just another option. I just received a pad from Backstop. It is about 1/2" thicker than the Limbsaver that comes on the Rokstok. It is about perfect length now for me. I don't know if @Unknown Munitions ever considered just offering a couple different pad options for sale?
Can you post up a picture of your Rokstok with this pad?

They dont need more options to handle (skus). Thats not how to streamline.

Are you still using low rings or did you switch to mediums with the longer lop?

Not to answer for him, but when I recently received my first rokstock I had lows UM Tikka lows on my 6.5 and I put a set of mediums on my 223 (both with RS1.2 scopes). I moved the stock back and forth which was not the ideal side by side comparison but best I could do with only one stock. I settled on a slight preference for one spacer and low rings. Offhand and seated unsupported I had no real preference but I found the lows better for me in prone (though only a slight preference). I found with lows I was right on the eye box and with mediums about half the time I was just slightly off and needed to adjust my head. Either would have been totally useable but slight preference for lows. If there was a L/M at something like 1.12 it likely would have been just perfect.

While I almost sold my medium rings I will shortly have 3 rokstocks on hand and was going to throw the mediums on one for a more direct side to side comparison before I 100% make up my mind.

In terms of how many spacers I chose I could have left all of them in just fine for prone but it would have pushed my offhand into a more classical target stance or at least a less squared off modern stance vs a more aggressive modern offhand stance.

I shot the wood Rokstock in 22 Creed yesterday at the event, thanks @mxgsmdpx for putting everything together! Despite a heavy wind and touching the rifle for the first time I had no trouble putting on steel immediately just shy of 500. Very comfortable stock to shoot. First time I ever shot a 22 Creed, kinda nice....

Backfire just tested a Howa 1500 Superlite. The used it to design a Backstop recoil pad that fits the Stocky's Stock that comes with the rifle. I had a hunch and called Stockys to verify. The limbsaver 5/8" recoil pad is exactly the same as it is on the Rokstok. If anyone wants a really high tech recoil pad, albeit a $90 very expensive recoil pad, call Backfire for their Backstop pad that is custom made for the cartridge and weight of the rifle. It is a 29mm pad so it will yield a longer LOP.
I've called Backfire several times in the past two months, left VMs twice, and emailed. No replies.

How the heck do you get in contact with them?

I was the first to try this on a RokStok. I emailed them and shipped them the buttpad. They confirmed it was the same as other Stockys and shipped me one to test. It fits. Stockys likely uses the same model for all. It adds 1/2” to RokStok LOP.

I also asked Backfire if they would print pads with additional LOP and they politely declined. If there was a lot of interest they might be convinced to print different LOPs or spacers themselves.

Email is the best way to reach them. If they don’t respond it’s probably because they’re out filming content…

[technically OT]
I have a Howa Superlite build on hold at Oregunsmithing. Wayne cuts stocks to length and uses grindable Pachmayr pads. Once I have an accurate thickness for the Backstop I will need (caliber, weight, etc.) I will have Wayne cut the stock for my LOP minus that and send the remnant to Backfire for shape/size.

I haven’t kept up with this thread but if you can get your hands on a spacer set you can put them on a Rokstok that doesn’t have the correct setup.

This is a Rokstok I bought off the classifieds and put one of my extra spacers on. You just have to file the little alignment nipple down (see pic with white circles). If you add more than a couple spacers you might need longer screws to reach the stock.

Interesting, I have a used rokstock coming that I was going to send in for spacers but this would be simpler and faster I suppose and given I set up my other one with 1 spacer a half inch is just right.

Is it just a plug and play fit, unscrew the old one and screw this one on? Or is the original glued on and any drilling required?
