Just got home from visiting the national park and Glenwood springs this week, spent one afternoon downtown Denver and was way out of my element. But got to see some beautiful views

I was there yesterday. Trail ridge was closed. The rest of the park was pretty, but not anymore than any other beautiful mountain scenery. Not impressed and wouldn’t return there specifically. Really not sure what separates it enough to justify making it a National park. Estes park elk was pretty entertaining though. Bear tooth highway is far more remarkable to me.

Trail ridge in my opinion is what sets it apart, coming from the southeast I’m not hard to impress but being up a 14000’ getting to see some of those views was my favorite part

Every city has shitty parts but i enjoyed seeing union station and Coors field. 16th st mall and Washington st. Not so much

For sure, it’s a shame how much it’s gone down hill though I live in the burbs and work there it Was really nice there for a bit being a bigger city in the mountain west

Sure has changed a lot. I lived around there in the early 2000s and went to college there. Back in 2017 I drove through the front range area on the way back from Yellowstone and I couldn't believe the strip malls and sprawl that was there. In 2018 I went to a conference also in Denver and there was a bluff I used to drive my 4 wheel drive Toyota truck (pre tacoma) up, now there is a giant burger joint on the bluff. I can only imagine the growth has continued from 2017-18 to 2025.

Would have been literal paradise :/ my dad’s buddy was killing deer off the hog back west of C-470, had another older friend who would take his shotgun to school with him and then jump shoot ducks and geese on south boulder creek after school, ah what a time to be alive, do you have any good stories about front range freedom?

We lived about a mile from a huge prairie dog town off Harmony Road near Fort Collins (it was dirt back then). We got permission to hunt it from the farmer who owned it although he made us pick up rocks out of one of fields every year, when I was older I drove a silage truck for him in order to secure goose hunting rights. Back to the story: We would tape our 22 rifles to the handlebars of our stingrays and ride out to shoot, one time we got stopped by a sheriffs deputy and at first were worried, turns out he wanted to know where we were going shooting and when he found out it was prairie dogs he asked if the farmer would let him shoot some too. Old Carter turned him down, didn't like cops...

My family and I visited RMNP a few years ago. We had a great time. I enjoyed hanging out with the bugling elk. I went down to the visitor center in Estes Park for a few mornings to watch and listen to them rut. It was pretty darn cool!

Trail Ridge Road closed Sunday at 5:00 due to weather. The park was open last weekend when we were there. It looked like they had a skeleton crew working and were not taking money at the gates or keeping to the timed entry.
