Interest in a fly fishing forum section?

I’ve fished sages (xp’s) Scotts(g’s) and Winston’s(TMF, IM6’s). Sold all of em to get tying materials. Now all I fish with are St. croix rods, for my fussy dries, and cabelas rods for all else. Best move I’ve made. Won’t sell the bamboo tho- those aren’t replaceable imo.

The warranties are out of hand. Fishing has become such a gear heavy industry. Doesn’t need to be that complex

I don’t know, every broken rod I’ve had was completely my fault so 60-100 buds for a brand new one seems like a pretty solid deal.

Probably pretty good considering that the outfitter/guide discount is about 50%.

Large online retailers will frequently offer coupon codes for 20% off.

The local fly shop might offer you 30% off a new line with purchase of a flagship model rod.

Online retailers doing so are either the manufacturers or are doing so at risk of their dealerships. Sage, Orvis, Loomis, Winston,Scott, and pretty much all the other well known rod brands have strict pricing and discount policies.

Ok I’ll play. High alpine/backcountry fishing has been a passion of mine since childhood. I learned to fly fish on mountain creeks/rivers, and translated that into the alpine stillwater by high school. For many years I used both spin gear and fly rods, until I realized I was packing gear around for days that never was getting used because I could be more consistently productive with the fly rod (especially on trophy size fish). Many years of fly/technique development, learning fisheries biology, timing, research, ect later, I don’t even own spin gear anymore. As soon as spring bear is wrapped up, I’m loading up the backpack to chase these big beauties. It’s a lot like hunting in many ways…

As far as a fly fishing (or fishing in general) section of Rokslide, that’d be a lot. Could easily be its own separate forum. There’s so many places, species, techniques…I can think of a dozen sub forums off the top of my head. Something specific to western backcountry (keeping in line with the rest of Rokslide) might be manageable.

Several online shops will give you free shipping and a free line of your choice with a rod purchase, often reds fly shop give any line you want with any rod over 595.00

Yeah it’s pretty lame. It’s unfortunate because it could be cool but for whatever reason it’s not. Low traffic and those guys seem like a bunch of squares. I’ve started a thread to ask questions and like 10 days later my thread is still on the front page but with only 2-3 replies.
