I just ordered a CA ridgeline in 300 prc. Not sure I’ll ever be able to get ammo lol. That being said what’s a good options for lightweight rings, or is it worth it to go with a rail and rings? Likely going to be using a Leupold vx5hd 3-15x44(open to other suggestions but i do get a good discount on them). My previous back country rifle was a Kimber Montana in 6.5cm and I had Talley lightweights on there. I was happy with them, just not sure if there’s other options out there now that are worth looking into.

I like Warne rings. They have several different configurations and a line of lightweight ones that I've never used. They may be slightly heavier than others but they're bombproof. I use Maxima's on my quarter bores and the quick detach on my 416 Rigby. Always been rock solid. All that being said, though, Talley does make some light weight direct mount rings that cut out the use of a rail or base and would shave some ounces. Again, never used them personally but I've heard good things.

I had good luck with them, was just curious if anyone else had any input. Seems like there’s always new and improved stuff coming out haha

You're not wrong on that. From everyone I've talked to and seen Warne and Talley are still currently about the best. Trijicon also makes some rings that I'd love to try but they're like $160 a whack and make my checkbook want to punch me in the face.

I wouldn't bother with either Talley or Warne. Talley in particular simply does not offer the mounting force I want.

I would get a canted (likely 20 moa) rail and rings for a 300 prc. As for rings I would go with either nightforce or hawkins ultralites.

I’m kind of new to longer range stuff. What is the advantage to the 20 moa rail or a canted rail?

A canted rail is a sloped rail, that slopes downward from the rear of the action to the barrel that allows for more elevation adjustment in your scope's turret. For example, I have a rifle with fixed rings and no cant, and I run out of elevation adjustment (my turret won't turn any further) at 30moa which is about 1k yards for my setup. If I added a 20moa rail, I would have a lower starting point and could continue to dial beyond my previous limit of 30moa or 1k yards.

I have 2 different sets of the Warne's, with one set being on a 12 ga slug gun, and they are rock solid.

Ended up ordering the Leupold vx5hd this morning. For what it’s worth, it sounds like they’re discontinuing the vx3i line or changing it at least
