Rifle scopes you'd love to see Form test

What am I missing on this META? It looks like any other 3-18 with a Christmas tree reticle that's "made for hunters"

I had same thoughts when reading spec sheet and looking at pictures online but then looked through one at the AK NRL Hunter match and got to fiddle with it for a few minutes and wow, it just seemed very well executed and thought out, very easy to quickly manipulate all functions/adjustments precisely (not too easy) and was optically stunning and doesn’t weigh too much.
Eyebox wasn’t insanely tight on the high end but like any 6x+ scope there was some of that.
I’m not a Christmas tree reticle fan but I didn’t find the tree so distracting compared to some others I’ve seen, so I want to know if all the rest of the components hold zero/track/don’t do weird stuff in case I decide to sell a kidney to buy one (ha)

I’d pitch in a donation specifically towards it being tested if others are on board too, sorta like a S&B Meta test GoFundMe

I can get behind all of that. 4k for a scope with a subpar reticle for hunting kinda ends it for me. I do also enjoy reading the evaluations so I hope it does get tested

I just know in my heart it wouldn't pass the drop test but I might get one anyway.
Don't pretty much needs full pic rail to mount due to how tiny it is. Reticle is average nothing close to the Maven. Turrets are nice but would prefer no illumination to make it slimmer. Eyebox a bit critical. Id buy a March for the same weight with a way better reticle and pretend it doesnt go past 18x.

Also parallax marks so far of its not even funny and super short depth of field so has to be just right. So cant just leave it around 150 or quickly dial it "close enough".

A little apples to oranges there partner.

If I’m cracking $2k-$4k I’ll just get another Nightforce and carry the weight.

Im comparing lightweight FFP which makes Nightforce and even more apples to Oranges comparison. Ive also actually owned that scope but hey im sure you who havent actually handled one know better...

From my communication with S&B and speaking with their reps ,the Meta is a PMII in hunting scope clothing. If that is true it should be (on paper at least) a scope that can handle hard, real world use better than the median scope on the market.

That is correct. It partially came from a conversation about just that.

I may have worded what I was saying incorrectly. I have no doubt it will be a tough scope & the glass will be really nice. The reticle just didnt make sense to me if they're going to market it towards hunters

Love it when people flame a scope saying it'll be a POS when I maybe 1 or 2 people here have laid eyes on em. Yeah it 'spensive! Yeah you might not like the reticle, doesn't mean it's junk if it doesn't match your needs.

It may be a little more nuanced than if someone doesn't 'like' the reticle or it 'meets their needs'. Yes, there's always elements of 'like' and personal needs, but there are also objective differences in what aids performance in specific applications.

And in this particular scope's case, while S&B might have a better track record than many, there are some examples of catastrophic fails for high-level competitors ... there's one podcast from a few years ago where some high-level comp guys reference this directly in relation to S&B, saying that they're also known as 'S*** the Bedder'. Not necessarily fair for the line as a whole, but shows that they're not invincible.

If you are referring to me can you point to where i "flamed" it & said it would be a POS/Junk?
