Rifle recommendations

I'm not sure about the predator variant, but I'm a hard pass on the American series. They feel like nerf guns to me, very "plasticky" and hollow. Like chinese Red Ryder bb guns.
If the predators are a bit more stout with heavier barrels , it is worth looking at.
Ruger American Rifle Predator Stainless is a potential option.

It might help if you provide a list of the rifle you don’t want since it seems to be lengthy. There are a few out there that fit your wants/needs. Maybe Fierce, Nosler, Seekins, or as mentioned before Winchester?

I'm going to take a look at the Ruger Hawkeye and Winchester 70 tomorrow. I guess it really comes down to the action and trigger since the stocks are coming off of any brand I buy.

Winchester M70 extreme weather will fit your bill nicely.

The rifles coming out of the FN plant are slick as snot and even better IMHO than the older M70’s.

If your gonna replace the stock then look at getting a stainless steel sporter in the caliber you want and just selling the wood stock.

The only constant I've had with Remington is horrible customer service on shoddy products. Three rifles and one shotgun with numerous problems. They are almost as bad as Kimber.
I’ve owned a truck load of Remington rifles over the years from .22-250 to 300 RUM and never had a issue with any of them that wasn’t my fault. Same with their shotguns. Only have 1 Kimber, a 84L that is pleasure to carry and shoot. Guess I’m lucky.
Had 5x the issues with Ruger rifles and their service over the years. Sold them all and never looked back.

I have an ultralight MK V in .257 Weatherby that i love im not sure if they come in 6.5 though.

Sounds like a tall order with all of your dislikes. There seem to be very few stainless hinged 6.5 creedmoor rifles out there to choose from.

Why not let them pick & if it has a magazine have them replace the magazines if they get lost or damaged. Most rifles these day's are all magazine fed, not many hinged stainless rifles out there. Not sure how old your son's are but I'm sure they already have their eye's on a rifle they both like more than what you have in mind.

Or you could always buy a used or other new blued gun and have it cerakoted like previously mentioned. I'm sure they'd like the coated rifles more since they can pick out the color.

My two son's are way off from going hunting yet, but I ended up putting together a Savage Lightweight Hunter in 243 & paired it with a Lady stock since it has the shorter length & higher comb on the stock. The Savage Lady was purchased in 223 so they will practice with that barreled action before moving up to the 243.

After that I may end up letting them choose what they want for themselves. If it's going to be a hunting rifle they will keep a long time, might as well be something they like more than what you like.

We recently looked at the Ruger American Predator for our 9 year old daughter. Very good reviews and cost effective. Has threaded barrel as well... we got her a Ruger American but not the Predator model. Couldn’t find one in lefty. I have several Rugers m77 and they shot very well too. I also have a Barrett Fieldcraft which is an excellent rifle ... but not less than $1000 tho. Good luck with your search

If you put a new stock on the Ruger American it will feel like a totally different rifle for a very affordable price.

I would look at the Ruger Hawkeye Compact Stainless. It has a laminate stock that already has a shorter LOP- 12.5", but you can easily cut it shorter. the 16.5" barrel is very handy and my experience with short barrels is they are stiffer and shoot really well.

My kids and I have a few seasons of success with my Ruger Hawkeye Predator 6.5CM.
Excellent factory trigger and nearly indestructible. It’s MOA or better with every factory load I’ve tried and so good with some that I doubt hand loading could do better.

Downside it’s heavy. I’m in the process of correcting that with a 22” Kreiger 5R #1 contour barrel and a MPI microlite stock with a blind magazine.

Sorry, dude. I must buy all the good Remingtons before you get a chance to. Lol

I'm with you, I'm not saying they don't have issues these days but I have 3 or 4 and they are all great with none of the issues that I read about online.

And I feel the same way about the Kimber's, everyone that I've owned or had the opportunity to shoot, have been great. I guess I should consider myself lucky.

my experience with kimbers mirrors yours. I’ve had great luck with the 2 that I currently have as well as the 3-4 that have passed through my collection over the years. I’ve always found kimbers to be very nice rifles.

I have an American predator in 22-250 and I really like it. I actually like that it’s a “cheap” gun, I don’t worry about banging it up in my jet boats.

Accuracy issues on a couple. Had a dealer/ smith tell me that Ruger barrels were only “true” in the last couple inches.
Stocks warping on 2 different rifles and a laminated stock that came apart.
Only Ruger I have left is a No 1 in 338.
