A hunt was waiting just outside the back door, when squirrels and Sparrows were big game. When a magnifying glass could keeps you occupied for hours.
When the Farmers old ran down barn had the coolest hidden treasures, Owl, Rat and the occasional cat skeletons,
Let not forget our improvised Jacuzzi
God those were the best days !
I remember me and the love of my life setting out on the back porch steps shooting my Crossman 760 pump
bb rifle. Man she was good !
There was a weed about 36/40 inches high I think it was a milkweed.. Oh well I shot about two inches off of the top, then she shot a couple more inches off, we reduced the weed down to a 1/2 nub in the dirt.
The only thing alive I could get her to shot were the Big ass spiders in the back of the house all thru the Honey suckle. They were the size of a quarter and splatted really good when you hit them. You know no matter how many of those things we shot there would be a whole new bunch of them the following day.
What are our Grand kids and Great grand kids going to do ? Can't make a go cart from a Barrowed rototiller motor and race it around the Block, No more Old barns to explore, Hell it is probably illegal to burn up ants with a magnifying glass?
So sad, just no honest trouble for a kid to get into with out destroying their future anymore.
