Quick story:

I was raised in a small podunk town in Texas where no Jewish people lived, therefore I never had any Jewish friends or neighbors. We kids knew nothing about the Jewish folk.

Way later in life when I was a business owner in the same area, one of my employees was Jewish. I’ll call her Lisa, who was about 50 years old. She was my first exposure to a Jewish person.

On a Sunday morning, I received a phone call from Lisa. “I shot a pig!!!!”
“Ok. I didn’t know you hunted.”
We have wild hogs all over East Texas. She was so proud of herself.
“It was crossing the yard and I killed it with one shot!”
“Good for you!” Still couldn’t figure out why she was calling me….
“WHAT’S A JEW GONNA DO WITH A PIG???” she laughed in the phone.
Ohhhh……

After some instruction, she ended up cleaning and processing the pig, and then donated the meat to a local food bank. Turned out, that was the first ANIMAL she had ever shot.
She was officially a hunter in my eyes after that! Much respect.

Happy Chanukah to our Jewish hunters on this forum!
