I’ve gotten some questions about what I use the Ventile jacket/wind shirt for and where does it fit in. For me it mostly is used as a durable, breathable, wind and water resistant outer layer- emphasis on durable. It kind of takes the place of a soft shell, wind jacket, and light rain jacket, yet I do not have to worry about it getting muddy, bloody, dirty. When it’s below 30° and I’m hiking in somewhere a base layer top and the jacket it fine. When needing a light jacket just to stand around, shoot, or be outside.

The problem with soft shells and any rain gear is that they have a very limited lifespan which means I can’t actually use and instead do have to baby them. You do not have to baby the Red Kettle jackets.

I thought I'd order one but my choice is sold out [ XL green].
40+ years ago, I wore the Barbour coats and I liked em but I believe those were a waxed cotton and Gore Tex was primitive at the time.

Thanks Form for your input on these jackets.

Got my shipment notification during the week ... looks like all of us who got in on this are GTG.
Mine was delivered to my office last night. Look forward to trying them out next week. Thanks again for posting about this sale.

You're welcome - sounds like a few of us got in on the deal.

And thanks again to @Formidilosus for the recommendation of this as an option.

Let me know how they fit if y’all would.
They do (I got both the Wind Shell and Light Hunting jackets) with the same caveats you provided. I’m 6’2” and ~205lbs and I got the XL in both.

The length is nearly perfect - the slight exception being the sleeves are a bit long, but even that is fine due to the buttons that allow them to be wide open or narrowed. And much better than being a bit short.

As for the girth - if I put on too much underneath, they would be tight. If anyone needs more detail, I can send pictures and/or try them on with another layer and report back.

Tough call on size based on the feedback, but at 5'9" 180 I went for the medium Light Hunting Jacket M19. Here's to hoping.

Pretty much my size too and I also went with medium.

Tracking mine shows it came into Los Angeles on the 21st and then nothing.
