Red Dot Mounting - 870

I have an 12ga 870 I've used a large red dot and a pic rail on for the past 10 turkey seasons - I want to mount a Vortex Venom directly receiver to get the sight picture lower. What are my best options for mounting to my drilled/tapped receiver?


Here are the plates I've found that are compatible:

EGW Universal
Sumtoy
Burris Fastfire Mount - do any of these fit a tapped 870 receiver?
GG&G
Burris Speedbead mount
Meadow Creek Rib mount - I don't think I want my dot so far forward
Truglo - steel and cheap, probably low quality

I had used EGW mounts on several guns with no issues. I just received the Universal mount you mentioned and like all their stuff I’m sure it will be great. Also for a 870 mine is a 20 gauge.

I’ve thought about one of these for my 870.

I have a couple dedicated turkey guns. All wear sumtoy bases and either vortex venom or burris fast fires.

I use my equipment hard and never once had one come out of zero.

The low mount creates a nice aiming solution for those tight shooting tss loads.

Dang, I had been planning to mount a Holosun on this Warne mount for my 870, but y’all are giving me other ideas now…

I use the Burris Fastfire base and the Sumtoy to mount my Vortex Venoms to my 870s and 1187s.

I can’t stand the look of a pic rail or that goofy looking new mount that Vortex just came out with.
