Looking to put an optic on youth 870 for turkey, too late for this year but want to get started.
Best red dot and mount?
My receiver is factory tapped.
Not worried about cost,i really want dependable long term battery.

My set up is a few years old and I know there are a few other options to choose from however my boy and I use the burris fastfire (2 and 3) along with either their 336 mount or a custom mount I found over at oldgobbler.com (I forget who makes it..sumtoy?). Regardless, the mount fits flush to the receiver, so it keeps your head down. We also have aftermarket protectors that make the setup virtually indestructible. I would definitely go with the fast fire 3 over the 2 since the battery is much easier to swap when you need to do it. The 2 requires zero verification since you have to take the sight off. I hope this helps.

Burris fastfire base(I can’t stand the Sumtoy base) and I prefer the Vortex Venom over the Burris FFIII.

I went with an aimpoint acro p2 for my turkey gun. Enclosed emitter, great battery life, and aimpoint durability.

I have a composite Weaver base that uses the fire control pins replaced with screws for mounting.
It's not elegant but it works.
Burris Fastfire II is the optic and it's solid.
