Just for my curiosity, why below 280?

I was more concerned with arrow trajectory and am around 250fps.

Just getting back to this thread brother. I shoot fixed blade broadheads and they seem to fly best at longer ranges below 280. So I prefer the 260-280 range.

My rx-1 ultra at 28” and 77lbs throws a 540 grain arrow at 260 FPS. It hits hard and is about the same speed I usually shoot:

I would have to go down to a 450 grn arrow to get to 280 FPS.

Bowtech Reign 7” @ 76#,
28.25” DL,
482 grain arrow
288-288 FPS
Any faster than that fixed blades are tough to get dialed even if the bow is super dialed in and tuned to the best of my ability. Someone mention how the heavier arrow quiets the bow, it def does that!

Have you thought about adding some internal weights and going up to 500g? Get down around 280 with a little more weight.

I have, Ive played with so many different weights and setups, what I’m running tunes out great. I’m just right at the top end for speed.
I still have room to add more weight with a wrap and pin knocks if I wanted but frankly my setup tunes great as is. I love to hunt super twitchy blacktails so...... speed isn’t a bad thing on top of that I’m getting like 90ft/lbs of kinetic energy. Enough to lethally kill literally anything except maybe an elephant. I purposely was aiming for high 280s for a flatter trajectory. I’ve tried the extreme overall heavy (590) and extreme FOC and frankly I’m not a huge fan. I’ve taken many elk using a wide array of weight arrows and outside of silly light arrows (sub 400) a well placed shot and good shot selection is paramount above all else.

Just picked up a new bow last week and have been getting it dialed in. Finally ran a couple arrows through the chrono and was pleasantly suprised with my speeds.

PSE Evoke 35, 70lbs 30" draw, set at 80% letoff, 508gr arrow @ 283fps.

Centergy 28” draw 65lbs

Easton axis at 520g - 230fps
(300 spine, 75g brass insert and 100g point)

VAP tko’s at 407g - 265fps
(350 spine, 35g outsert and 100g point)

I’m considering sticking with the VAPs and maybe throwing a 125 grain point on them
