I shoot a Bergara MGLite .300 WM and load RS Magnum 83.5 with 200 gr ELDX rounds exclusively. I am getting 2935 FPS with an average 11fps variance. I had trouble with my chronograph also initially because there was a roof over our shooting table. I moved it out away from the structure, about 10 yrds, and it showed the more accurate speed first shot. Not sure it that is your issue, but solved my problem.
I feel this was the issue, I had never operated a chronograph, I was shooting 3 feet from it 🤦🏻‍♂️. Since then I have had good success with ramshot magnum, H4350, and most recently H1000. Thank you so much for your input, it confirms my situation.

Cheers 🍻

What amount of ramshot powder did you settle on for your 200 eld-x? Just curious as I am loading up a batch with fed 215 primers

I'll have to look it up, but I had a very good load with H4831 and the 200gr ELDX. Have you tried asking around to see if someone local has a chrono you can use?

The timing here is impeccable! LOL just getting ready to pour powder. Someone posted some data that they settled on 83.5 gr and was getting 2900+. I don’t know what the OAL was though. The eldx is a long bullet. The TSX is a long bullet also. I am limited to 3.347”. The OGIVE is just about a .25” above the case mouth, so how much I will be able to compress the load is my question. I am going to start at 78 gr and see what happens. Go up a grain at a time from there. I sent an email to Hodgdon and this was the reply:

We have not tested your particular bullet but you can use the data listed below for the 200gr partition. Just begin with the starting load and work up, looking for pressure signs as you go.

This is excellent, thank you! I saw the same post you’re referring to about the 83.5 gr so I just went down the middle with 82. Perhaps that’s a little too hot at first and maybe I’ll go you’re route to start. Thanks!

I reloaded 81 grains in my Dad's 300 wm Winchester model 70. It's not the hottest or fastest but he shot a 5 shot groups you could cover with a nickel at 100 yds. Really nice shooting powder. Plain Jane WW brass and CCI 250 magnum primers. We were right above 2900 fps. 2910 rings a bell. Good luck!

Well folks....in a recent thread people are talking about how bad it is to change brass on a load but Ramshot load data doesn’t mention brand of brass at all...Most load data doesn’t. I am using fire formed Nosler brass for the minimum loads and as I move towards the max load am using Norma brass. The Nosler brass is thicker and heavier than the Norma brass. The Norma brass isn’t near as good as the Nosler brass, so I don’t care if I get pressure marks on the Norma brass. I will be using Nosler brass for the 200 gr ELD-X hunting loads. Since the bullet has not been tested, we have a very large spread between the max load for the 200 gr bullets (TTX, Partitions) that have been tested. So what brass are ya using?

For a lot of years Nosler brass was Norma. Then I believe they purchased SSA Silver State Armory and now have that plant manufacturing their brass. At any rate it is decent brass. Little soft in the necks and primer pockets when pushed hard. If good money is spent buy Lapua, Alpha, Peterson, ADG and Starline for pistol. For the load I did for my Dad I used basic Winchester brass. He doesn't shoot that much and it was a mild load. Worked great 👍

I am going to stay with Nosler brass on my 300 win mag with heavy bullets since I have over 150 pieces. It is easier to stay with one or two bushings and mandrels for setting neck tension anyway. I am not impressed with the Norma brass. The primer pockets aren’t the best and the necks are thin.

I just purchased this gun. Are you still having good results with this load? In the process for finding the best round currently.
