raingear

I got a set of Yukon gear for my moose hunt last year. And i realize it is way over kill for colorado elk but i cant justify spending another 120-150 on lighter weight rain gear when what i have is bomb proof. Its only gonna save me like a pound. in my opinion if what you have has been working stick with it unless your going on a hunt that you know could be bad conditions.

Overkill isn't a bad thing! It will last and most certainly keep you dry wherever you decide to hunt. I love the Yukon gear, even though I don't always go to the harshest places all the time.

I also recommend the cabelas space rain gear. As others mentioned it can tear easily, but if it's raining hard enough to warrant wearing it for an extended period of time I usually hunker down anyways.

Maybe you could skip the rain pants, use gaiters and put more money into a good jacket? I think I use my rain pants more in the snow than in the rain. Actually they got left behind a lot because I didn't want to pack the extra weight. I'm not planning on packing rain pants this year myself after listing to the Gritty.
