Quitting Alcohol

I strongly believe that there are huge potential benefits to cannabinoids and psychedelics when used properly, under supervision, and in the right setting.
The body of research on the curative effect of a single dose of psilocybin in curing depression and PTSD is amazing.

That being said, I won't touch them with a 10 foot pole, because even when legal at a state level, they're still illegal at the federal level. This is a problem for me, because my livelihood depends on my holding a federal DEA license, which could be revoiked if I break any federal drug laws. And my gun ownership rights are also in jeopardy if I were to have a run in with federal drug laws.

I think the risk is miniscule, but the consequences are huge. I wouldn't advise anyone who values his gun rights to discuss drug use on a public form.

Hopefully someday federal laws will come out of the stone age, and further research will be done on how to use these powerful gifts from nature to help people in need.

Ok , weed is the only thing that made it possible for me to quit alcohol, back in the 80-90,s .
Is weed for everyone? No , but if it works for you , BRAVO 🙌.
Whatever it takes , whatever works. IMO

I quit drinking almost a decade ago. I wasn't a very heavy drinker, but drank too much IMO.

I'd love to try edibles based on hearing about good results with chronic pain, as I have had some serious injuries in the past, but am a federal employee and, like you, there's no way I'm going to take the chance.

For reference when I say "serious injuries" I'm in the basket after my belay screwed up a knot pass and dropped me about 50 feet:

Woke up this morning after only two beers last night, horrible night sleep. It's my time to quit also. It destroys my sleep and gym sessions. Well.... day 1 here we go.
Better sleep was the #1 benefit to quitting alcohol for me, and it isn't even close.

Awesome man. When your animal brain tries to convince you of all the reasons it’s ok for you it’s good to repeat “I’ll never drink again and I’ll never change my mind.”

If you ever need to talk feel free to PM. It’s a journey.
