I know there are multiple threads, however they are so large and jumbled that actual details are lost.

Not much more of a review than reading the spec sheet. Why such limited testing?

I stated that we were asked not to abuse them- so what would you like to see? Pretty sure I’ve got more rounds on them than anyone at this point.

@Formidilosus
How do you see these different scopes playing out compared to what’s on the market?

I know you have extensive experience in multiple shooting disciplines outside of hunting. Do you see any of these unseating the current recommended first choice optics in other shooting niches?

while this is a bummer, I’m still looking to see the 2-12 at lowest power with the FC reticle. From a guy who can’t buy SWFA’s due to ITAR, the way I see it is while the RS1.2 is durable I doubt it’s as bombproof as any NF overall. The FC still seems like a significant improvement over what was offered by NF to date while seeming to go for a blend of being usable for gas guns and by hunters - with a heavy lean to a preference for gas guns.

Regardless, looking at the market I still think my choice for a lightweight FFP scope (sans SWFA) would come down to the RS1.2 or this new NF 2-12. And if you asked me to choose one for something like a 10 day, once in a lifetime sheep hunt - I might choose the NF as I’ve never had one fail and I know how thoroughly they test their designs. The RS1.2 is still a relatively new design and isn’t perfect; though by far my favorite scope to date. Time will tell of course, and I could be wrong on my NX6 assumptions, but that’s where I’m sitting currently.

Once the Rokscope releases that will hopefully solve all of these issues for me.

With that - maybe I’m missing something or am out to lunch on this. If so, please tell me why, I’m genuinely curious if I’m looking at this incorrectly.

1. How do you like the new turret locking mechanism? Is it nicer to have on there than the screw caps on the SHV or do you prefer the full coverage caps?

2. How does the glass compare to the SHV line?

3. The blurry reticle at low magnification seems like a huge miss on their part. Were you able to provide feedback to them directly and what was their response?

The 2-12 F1 is so close. I find it impossible to tell from the diagram on the NF website, but the outer stadia at least look fairly bold. That said I neither need nor want 20 mils of elevation haze (which I think is the correct term for that mini horus abomination), nor do I want 12 mils of space between my stadia for wind. Is this reticle for some military or 3-gun application? It sure aint a hunting reticle in my book. It's like they willfully refuse to make a hunting reticle I want to even try out. I think they just dont give a crap about hunters. I cant see any other explanation that makes sense to me.

Is the capped windage turret on the 2-12 as high-profile as the website photos make it look?

To be fair, I reeally have zero desire to use a scope if I dont like the reticle. After "actually functioning" and "magnification somewhere in the vicinity of where I want" it's the most important feature of a scope for me.

And yes, I am biased.

Also, to be fair, NF still takes the cake on repeatability/reliability/durability so even if the reticle isn't ideal per se, to me that isn't a deal breaker. (for the record, I don't have a problem with the reticle choices.)

Here is a question. They say you can convert turrets from exposed to capped etc. If one wants an exposed elevation/capped windage. which should I but the exposed model or the capped model. Is everything shipped with the scope to make the switch or is it something else to buy?

I’m biased toward a reticle that will actually function well for hunting. And these are just terrible…idk if they’re designed to be optimal for a different market, and the brains at NF think they’re “good enough” for hunting, or if there is a willful blindness and some sort of stubborn pushback to the market demand voiced on Rokslide, but either way these are really bad imo.
