Q&A for Minox ZP5 5-25x56mm THLR scope

The "but" is for Minox, a 2-in-1 reticle instead of two seperate product lines. Not my decision to make.

Revic is a clean hunting reticle, it's very nice. I'm a 100% mrad guy, the only difficulty I have with an MOA scope is putting a MOA value on my windcall. Other than than that, MOA//MRAD involves the same decisions for the shooter and both will work equally well. I cannot compare with my Minox, but I've never found the scopes lacking in image quality the 4-5 days I've used them.

In the film below I use the Revic with a MOA reticle; I just trusted the windcall from @Aaron Davidson and the bullet struck the pronghorn less than 2" from my intended point of impact. It would have been slower had I been alone as my MIL windcall would have to be converted to MOA and the only reason for "slower" is me being metric.

You talk funny. 😄

I'm looking forward to the MIL release of the Revic scopes.

Just another data point...

I purchased a 3-15 MR2 and a 5-25 THRL from Connor at Eurooptic. Both arrived in red boxes this past Wednesday, my other two 5-25 MR4’s from years ago were in white boxes. Both scopes arrived set to the middle of the mag range so I just dialed down through the harder resistance portion that starts at 13.6 mils and all was good.

The 3-15 is perfect and the MR2 reticle is great throughout the entire mag range. It’s a good fit for my HNT26 which I built as a crossover rifle. Previously I had a T6Xi with the MSR2 mounted. Loved the overall design of that one but the reticle was nearly invisible at minimum magnification. I added a mini green dot but that made the platform more bulky than I was comfortable with.

Unfortunately the 5-25 THLR will not focus at any distance unless the diopter is run all the way out (and the reticle is a blur) so I sent an email to Connor. It’s a shame because as good as the turrets are on my other three ZP5’s, the THLR turrets are the best. Super tight with the least amount of slop and the perfect amount of resistance. Very smooth mag and parallax controls. Super stiff windage turret which is reassuring as don’t want accidental movements there.

I am hoping I receive this same scope back with the proper repairs performed. The reticle itself is awesome and is the only reason I wanted another ZP5 5-25. I have looked through ZComps, Marches, NF’s, etc and owned a S&B 6-36 briefly but have yet to use a scope that matches the overall performance of my current older ZP5’s. They are absolutely fantastic.

I went with the MR4 reticle and today was the second time i have shot it. I tried to find some fault in it but it seems i got an ok one. Super crisp reticle all the way turned it. Pretty forgiving parallax. Didn’t feel like i needed to adjust from 400-600 yards. Noticeably more crisp image than my tenmile that i was also shooting.

I'm a little jealous, but I can wait three months or so if it comes back fully fixed.

If it's trued that these are discontinued, three months would feel like a short wait for those who missed out and have to wait until one finally comes up in the classifieds ... I'd be highly surprised if Blaser/Minox can't get you all sorted, and doubt that many people will want to part with this scope.

How do you like the 3-15, almost as heavy as 5-25 with wider fov??? Is it more useable for hunting distances, drop safe?

I have the same 3-15 with MR2 and it's as close to perfect for hunting as I've seen. It made my 6-24 tenmile look so bad I was trying to clean the lenses on the triji just to get close in performance @ 5,7 and 900. The minox weighs 2oz more than my nx8 4-32 that's rigged up as a spare.

The turrets are excellent and with a 20moa base I have 28.6 mils of travel in the turret.....that's 2k yds. The MR2 is easy to see at any mag too.

Loving the 3-15 so far. 40% wider FOV than my 5-25’s, smaller form factor, identical controls, and most importantly, the reticle is designed to be seen at 3x with wide outer stadia bars that end 5 mils from the center 1 mil wide cross. Reminiscent of my old P4F was was a great hunting reticle that unfortunately was really a 7-25x optic.

Around 10x I can start to make out the unobtrusive 0.2 mils hashes that begin a half mil or so from center, so it provides precision wind holds when needed but nothing I don’t.

Drop safe? Lol not sure but my barrel is torqued to 75 inch pounds, my Area 419 mount is wet-set and torqued 45 inch pounds to the pic rail and 18 inch pounds to the optic, everything is witness marked, and my chassis is covered in grip tape, so I am doing all I can to stack the odds in my favor.

Thanks for the responses. I recently started using the 5-25 with MR4 (could not get THLR) and blown away by quality and now looking to replace several other scopes. Considering the S2H scope if lucky enough to get one eventually and the Revic Acuras when available in Mils. For now the 3-15 is available and possible higher IQ than others albeit older technology coating than newer offerings. So putting the 3-15 and 5-25 side by side is the Image quality, low light usage, eye box on par? I dont want to assume that they are on par since the are the same family?

I have both. The eye box is generous for both, image quality is the same. If you're looking for a low light reticle in the 3-15 I'd give the edge to the MR2. The 4 thick posts make the reticle a touch more at 3X magnification at low light and against a dark backround (bushes, trees etc).
