So, a 400 gr, arrow is too light for deer? No thanks on all that.
No, it’s just irresponsible 😜 especially with modern archery equipment… just can’t squeeze enough energy out of them

I want to hear a podcast with Troy and Ashby with Gillingham… not for useful information, just want to hear the pissing match

I have zero problems with tuning I shoot iron will solids and Qad heads, But I start with with getting my center shot right and make sure everything is level check timing. Then shoot Bare shafts through paper and adjust from there switch top hats if needed then I move outside shoot broadheads and field points to make sure I have same poi back to 60 yards I’m not taking a shot father then that. Once that’s also good I can put almost any broadheads I want on and they hit with field points. With my light arrow days unless it was a perfect shot I almost never got pass throughs I also used mechanical heads then as well so I’m sure that didn’t help. Now when I hit them my arrow blasts through them. So far every deer I have shot with them has been a pass through and they where not all perfect shots. When I’m aiming I aim right above the leg sometimes I hit left a little on the thicker part. With the heavy arrows I’ve hit there only once and it went through no problem. Also I’m not dissecting the deer to say it hit the thicker part dead on or if it skipped off.

Wasn't asking your current tuning protocol.

I was asking what it was in your "light arrows days" as you called it.

Not doubting your experience, just trying to find contributing factors.

Tim can't help but have a heavy arrow.

Now FOC, that's something he can't have.

Heavier by my standards.
His gorilla arms, takes a lot of shaft and spine when your knuckles drag....

I wasn’t trying to come off like an Ahole so if it seemed that way sry. To the light arrow days there is a very good chance the bow was not tuned as good as I’m able to do it now because I always had the shop do everything. Which using the shop is the reason I got all my own stuff. After figuring out they do half Azz work. I now have a bow shop in my house. With that said there is a good chance I was not getting pass throughs due to poor arrow flight etc. since I’m able to pull heavier weight and still have good speed the heavier arrows have not hindered me like it does someone with a a short draw or lighter poundage.

Shops really can't tune the bow to you. They can start to if you are the one actually shooting the bow, but it's not like a garage where you can just drop it off for a tune up and then cone pick it up ready to hunt.

You done figured that out now.

Nothing wrong with a heavy arrow, especially when you can get the energy behind it to keep the speed up. It's a headache to be too fast, but I have several animals that I only got because I had decent trajectory.

It's that middle ground that's helpful, along with excellent arrow flight. Heavy arrows don't help you when they fly like shit either, just seems when you research and start going heavy, you also learn about tuning. So I think a lot of times there's more put into the arrow weight than the fact that it's additional mass and better flight, and likely more efficient broadheads.

True, but he preaches speed, I think it would be a funny conversation… complete opposite ends of ideal, and both sides think the other side is dumb… I have a hard time listening to any of them, but put them in the same conversation and I’m in

Speed comes easy for him.

You seen his stabilizer setup lately??

He is the inspector gadget of the archery world.

He can be short tempered, I'm betting it would be entertaining. My money is on the Mad Goat when the flurrying starts. Don't know that floating like a fairy will work too well.
Maybe RF can have some brass knuckles to even it up.

True and true I have been doing all my friends bows and friends of friends and there kids bows and some of them want to just give you the bow and pick it up when done. I have to tell them I can put the bow in spec get it in time center shot etc. but I can’t paper tune or broad head tune for them. I tell them im getting a bullet hole in paper but if they shoot it they might not so I get them over and have them shoot it and adjust accordingly. I have one guy that is so inconsistent that I just could not get it. I would fix one issue then it would go the other way round and round so I told him go get some lessons or talk to someone who can shoot way better then me to get your form and grip etc. fixed then we can try again. I wasn’t charging him so no big deal. Just wish I figured this all out 25 years ago lol
