I may be in the minority, but it would be awesome to have the EXO female buckles attached so you could just buckle right to the side straps and use it to cinch stuff down, or I will go even further to say the bottom should be molle compatible so it can be attached to the crib panel as well.
I want my front rest on my pack to be moveable quickly and easily. I use the molinator loosely strapped to the pack so I can use it with pack sideways or long ways depending on the shot and terrain.
The front rest needs to be low enough fill that it creates a natural “U” shape not an overly aggressive V that can grab the foreend. We want the rifle freely recoiling back into the shooter.
The idea behind this “bag” is that it is multi purpose. The molinator works great but is a single use piece for me (front rest on pack).
The idea behind this product is, low fill front rest off pack for main use, but it’s also a sit pad, pillow for naps, general “squishy” rest for any number of uses including knee pad for kneeling shots, stuff between elbow and knee for seated shots, the list sort of goes on from there.
For me it also needs to be low fill enough to stuff in the Teratorn pack shock cord when needed to tuck it quickly and move shooting position, etc.
I like the idea of having clips as long as they don’t affect function, which for me, having a couple hard plastic bits on the thing makes it more annoying. I think sewing in mount points for buckles, for guys who will use it that way is a good idea.
What we want to avoid is an over-featured balloon thing hanging off a pack. There will likely be a few iterations before production units are rolling.
The design points I want to see already are…
Less square, think of a nicely trimmed brisket shape that is “rectangle” in general but with rounded edges. It likely needs less fill than most think as well. And I don’t have one yet, this is just based on a couple photos and using the old Triple S pillow.
