Protect the Ruby Mountains

The Ruby Mountains are nice and shouldn’t turn into an oil patch, but the odds are very low that any substantial new drilling will happen anywhere in the US - the price of oil is too low. “Drill baby drill,” was looney toons misinformation from day one. How many new oil patches are setting up for major business as we speak. None.

Don’t be soft in the head and let politicians feed you disinformation and get away with it. Look into issues beyond the headlines for yourselves. If there are no new oilfield workers, it’s kind of a nothing burger when someone says the oil patch is booming.

Oil patch is doing fine and new activity is happening just fine. You have no clue what you are talking about. You linked a graph going back to the 1970s as if that is a good reference. Go back to yahoo for more info

Graph also shows Jan 2025. There’s no spike in oilfield employment. I don't think it’s even a political stance - it’s simply what’s happening in the real world.

As long as people are using what’s between their ears, I’m happy however you lean politically.

You made a 100% political post about og activity and then claim its not a political stance.

Like teenagers, when politicians say something I believe their actions more than words. That’s what we tell our kids. I don’t believe anyone who says we’re going to be drilling when prices are low, the president, my mailman, father in law, the next president, the last president, or the homeless dude who lives behind Target. The evidence this is likely to happen just isn’t there. When someone is blowing smoke up our rear I tend to question other things they have to say - you know like real people do in the real world. I don’t trust used car salesmen and I feel bad when well intentioned folks fall for their sales pitch based on false information.

The most recent evidence, oil production employment, hasn’t spiked. I could quote oil executives saying they don’t anticipate a lot of exploration at these prices. I could even quote foreign oil analysts who don’t really care one way or the other what America does and they will point to the price of oil dictating new holes.

The current administration has put out anticipated oil production numbers and they are only 40,000 barrels higher than last year. One oil tanker worth.

so what exactly does any of this have to do with the ruby mountains?

I’m sorry, when I make assumptions it comes back to bite me in the ass. I assumed you read my first post where I gave an explanation of why the Ruby’s are pretty safe from turning into an oil patch. My bad.

No, that reason is based exclusively on geology. Not politics, geopolitics, the price of oil, industry participation, or anything else you might have read or heard from any media organization or NGO.
