Pronghorn caliber

Hoping to draw a tag....... & will be taking my Seekins Element in 6.5 MAX, or my next project chassis rifle in a .257 or 6mm Sherman variant.

edit: New .25 cal. 133 Berger 🤔

I've taken 31 personally and had another 30 shot with me. Any legal caliber/bullet will work. Nothing wrong, at all, with your PRC. The most important thing, as others have mentioned, is your ability to shoot the gun accurately at distance. I always asked clients to be comfortable to at least 300. You can usually get within that range. Practice as far as you can on your range at home and then plan for some range time at elevation. Your gun will shoot a little differently if you are changing 3k+ in elevation. Good luck and have fun!

Its been 14 years since I've been speed-goat hunting but the last time I went out my .308 did the trick. The others in the group that went out used a .30-06, a .25-06 Encore handgun (SSK barrel) & a .270 JDJ Contender.

Buddy of mine uses his iron-sight Marlin 30-30... That kinda blows me away, but he loves that rifle and uses it well.

I usually rely on my 25-06 or 30-06 Rem 700 CDL's.

They're awfully fun to hunt, and taste great. :)

Regards, Guy

Shot my lope this year at 513 yds with 243. Conditions were perfect and had the
confidence I could make the shot. I think it is a great caliber for lopes.

bow hunt 32 My gun is set up for hunting in WI and we don't shoot long
distances often. I have a 3-10 Nikon Monarch scope and shoot the cheap
17 dollar Winchester Super X at 100 grains. I shot a coyote at 397 yds a few
years back and that was my longest shot up until this hunt.

I started pronghorn hunting when I was fifteen. First speed goat hunt was with a 7RemMag ( my only high powered rifle at the time) and my buddy used a 25-06. We ended up shooting our bucks at 100 and 175 yards. One of my other buddies was a WY pronghorn outfitter , he personally used a .243. The .270 Winchester shines as a pronghorn rifle. If I will be on a trophy pronghorn hunt it will be with my .264 WinMag. Pronghorn country can get pretty windy.
