Hey folks,
I have a watch with a decent sized metal piece that has gotten very shiny from wear. I shoot a recurve so need to get close.

I thought I heard someone saying they used something in the military to black out metal parts... Any suggestions?

Sharpie or shoe polish. Both suck pretty much. You could look for some matte paint but it’ll likely wear again.

Coffee, mustard, citrus, onions all will force a patina on knives if in carbon steel. Your watch maybe stainless tho. Think I’d carefully cut sone tiny strips of gorilla duct tape. Yep I would 😊

On bows with shiny parts I have used adhesive backed felt or moleskin in a pinch. Matte spray paint also works.

Not sure how large of a metal piece you're talking about or if you want to make it permanent. For temporary measures, a sharpie as noted above works ok. For a more permanent solution you could acid etch the piece(s) of metal with a Q-tip....same method that you would use to acid etch a knife. It will turn the metal a dull gray in under a minute. Just search that topic and you'll get the info you need.
