I was listening to Don Higgins talking about the story of his buck Mel and how he says it was impressive from 1.5 years old and it got me thinking about future bucks I have on camera.

It seems to me I can't really start identifying a buck until about 2.5-3.5 when some defining character starts to show.

But this year I have two bucks that I think are 1.5, so this being their first real rack. What say you?

I'm the world's worst at judging age on the hoof, but I would guess 2.5.
Either way, good potential for the future!

The second buck, a 10pt I believe, looks 1.5 to me. The other could be 2 but it's hard to tell. Great futures for both.

I agree, I have the worst time aging deer, but I still think these deer are 1.5. I still think bucks don't really start getting any type of defining character until 3 and typically hold on to those.

Hard to judge from summer body pictures. If those bucks are only 1.5 you've got a couple super up and comers. Even if they're only 2.5 still great genetics

If you get October pictures please post them
