Post your cartridge and best performance powders

With components hard to come by I’m wondering if I’ll have to find alternatives. I’m shooting a 280ai and having good results with H4831sc. But I’m almost out and have to do load development on a new rifle soon. Not sure if or when I’ll find it again. Plus, good to have a plan B and C.

Share your cartridge, any you load for, and the go to 1 or 3 powders that are giving you good results. Maybe it helps someone find an alternative they can get their hands on when they can’t find their go to powder.

308/30-06/300wsm based cartridges I’ve been using w760 due to easier to find. Not as fast, but great results. Works In my 260, 6.5CM, 06, 300wsm, 308 heavies.

I decided on it due to the versatility among the cartridges I own. I stumbled on 4lbs RL 26, been meaning to try it out, but 760 is so good I don’t want to waste primers at this point, think I’ll store the RL26 (hoard)

I try to keep H4895, H4350 and RL 19 on hand. I love RL15 but it is tough to come by right now.

Maybe try H1000 or imr 7828ssc in place of the 4831sc.

I’m pretty much in “what powder can I find that will work when I run out of my preferred” mode. I just ordered up a few pounds of shooters world 4350 and precision, and some N550. I think the 550 will work pretty well, especially in 280ai (I haven’t loaded for that one before, so purely research based thought- my barrel is probably a few months out still).

R22 and R15 are the two I am using currently for 7RM and 7/08. I also have R23 because I am low on 22 and couldn't find it anywhere. Also sitting on H4350, H414, 2000mr, & I think some H4831sc. All those can get me usable loads in either cartridge.

I have some H4350 for a couple 6.5 Creedmoors but I haven't started load development on them. They are inherited guns for my boys and they won't need them for a few years.

H4350 - 6.5x47, 300 WSM
H4831- 300 WSM and 7 SAUM
H1000 - 6.5 SAUM, 7 SAUM, 300 WM

7MM rmag RL26, RL22, and Retumbo - got lucky the last two days and found both RL22 and Retumbo in stock at Scheels and Runnings in MN and bought a couple of pounds of each.

Rem 660 in 6.5mm REM Mag with 20” barrel. Really likes IMR 4350, fast, very accurate. I’ve tried R17, R22, and H4831 but keep coming back to 4350.

My 280 AI performs best with RL 22. Tikka with a Douglas #3 22” barrel.
4831SC and 7828 were very good also, but RL 22 was better. 160 AB.

Mostly shoot 7mmRM and .257wby

H1000 is what I landed on for both after trying IMR-4350, 7828, and RL-25. I got MUCH better velocity out of H1000 in the 7mm with 160gr accubonds... 100gr TTSX in the .257.
