What’s your formula? I’m shooting 168 Berger with 2823 avg. 22” barrel. 60gr 4831sc.
Is this on a short action? What bullet?Well since this got bumped, may as well show my 7 SAUM.
Gunwerks Magnus with 20” barrel. Hoping to dump a bull with it this season.

That’s sweet. I was shooting the 140 TTSX but couldn’t get them locally so I switched to the 120 TTSX in my 7mm08. Thinking to build a 7 Saum in a short action but seeing all the comments about long actions…Yes, built on a short action. I tested the 145 Barnes LRX, 145 hammer HHT, 160 accubond, and the 175 Berger EH.
All shot very well, but went with extra speed from the Barnes. Took this bull at 415 yards and this buck at 350 yards a couple of weeks ago. My brother in law used my rifle to take a buck (bottom pic) at 580 yards. Definitely happy with the combo.

There are a lot of comments about the SAUM "needing" a longer action or a custom chamber, and a lot of that has come from the history of the 7 SAUM being used by competitors that love to tinker, but especially for hunting purposes you are not handicapping yourself by using a short action and a SAAMI chamber.Thinking to build a 7 Saum in a short action but seeing all the comments about long actions…
Just took my 2nd critter with my 7mm SAUM build. My first Coues, 425yds. The first was a 7 x 6 bull taken at 325yds.
22" Proof Sendero
Bighorn Origin SA (hinge floorplate w/ Wyatt standard box)
Vortex Razor LHT 3-15x42
Alterra Arms Stock
Timney HIT Trigger
Area 419 Brake
As you see it (minus the bipod), loaded with scope cover = 9.0 lbs.

I feel like if you're building a 7saum it is to tinker. Otherwise just get a 7rm or prc. There are a lot of comments about the SAUM "needing" a longer action or a custom chamber, and a lot of that has come from the history of the 7 SAUM being used by competitors that love to tinker, but especially for hunting purposes you are not handicapping yourself by using a short action and a SAAMI chamber.
My first 7 SAUM was built on an XM action, which was limiting in stock/chassis choice, had a terrible magazine selection, was a bit finicky with feeding, and didn't give me any real benefits.
I built my next (and current) 7 SAUM on a short action with a SAAMI chamber and am 100% happy with it. FWIW, I use the 175 ELD-X primarily, but have also used 140-155g monos and have also used 155 Terminal Ascents, 160 Accubonds, 160 Paritions, and other bullets in the short action.

What’s your coal with the 150 TTSX?
