When I see field photos or retail advertisement I’ve always assume that the individual in the photo is the one that harvested the animal. What type of person poses with an animal, insinuating that they were the one that harvested the animal? Then to have a retail company use it as advertising? Am I the only one that feels like this is deceiving and shows a total lack of respect for those that have worked hard to harvest a prestigious animal?

Hey man, I think this is the photo you're referring to, and you're right.....I didn't shoot this ram.

I did however spot it, walk him into it, tell him the range (109 yards), cape it, pack it out, pack up his camp, turn out the face, salt the hide and butcher the meat......BUT I DID NOT SHOOT IT. It was a great hunt and I was just happy clay and the guide let me tag along.

My drop box file has several hundred photos in it and Kryptek has access to all of them. This photo was one of many in that folder. I had no intention of trying to pretend I shot the ram, as I'm a normal guy that couldn't afford a hunt like this.

Since I worked so hard on this hunt for the guy he told me I should get a photo behind it as well (basically I did all the work anyway and wasn't a paid guide).....the guide on the hunt got the same photos as I did. I was actually amazed at how much the guides in the NWT do for the hunters while I tagged along and definitely tip my hat to them as in my eyes they are doing all the work.

Here's the guy that shot the ram. We actually got a double that day (killed both seconds apart from each other). It was a father son team from California.

Here's the sons ram and they had me get a photo behind this animal too.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to be a poser or anything, and if I had known Kryptek was going to use this photo I would have told them to use another.

Here's another animal that the guide and I did all the work to get it.....but did not shoot it. I guess we are both posers.

I just had this conversation with the owner of Kuiu about the ad your talking about (I think it's in Alaska hunt and fish) and he mentioned blasting me as a poser too. Hopefully we can all stay professional on the forums and just support hunting and hunters. I know when someone posts negative stuff on my Facebook page I delete as fast as possible.... I don't want to stir the pot nor do I have time.

This also looks like your first post and you're trying to stir up trouble and bash me for being a poser. I would suggest having a few more posts before you start bashing me.

Either way, I did not shoot the ram, but I did do everything else.

Hopefully this clears things up a bit.

I got some good backpack testing in with this ram too. I wanted to make sure our frames don't break and leave someone stranded on the side of a mountain.

Talk about ultimate backfire when trying to throw someone under the bus after they busted their ass for you. What were you trying to accomplish with this post? Aron is very highly thought of here and will have many attest to this. How about a thanks for your time and effort and let me know if I can ever do anything for you down road. That's what any humble and grateful hunter would do. Not everybody has the funds to hunt sheep like that by the way. Be grateful you are so fortunate.

The guy that started this post is not the hunter. The hunter and I email each other back and forth and he's a great guy and I will be going on other hunts with him in the future.

The guy that posted this is trying to stir the pot and bash me.

As I told Jason with Kuiu..... I can't afford hunts like this and I was just happy I could be involved and honored the guy asked me to take a photo behind his ram.

You did nothing wrong. Assumptions being made and we know where that can lead. Damn nice picture and a good way to remember the hunt with friends.

I didn't shoot this one either, but I did have one hell of a fun time with these guys!

I bet you think this guy shot this ram, but he did not....he just did all the work for it!

Jesus, when did the outdoor industry turn into a bunch of pissy bitches.

I personally have no problem with a guide taking a photo with an animal he helped harvest. Hell I've got a photo of me with my dads elk from a few years ago, I sure as hell didn't shoot it, but I did help him with every other aspect of that hunt.

To me it's easy to tell most of the time, the clients normally have the weapon with which the animal was harvested in the photo, guides, packers, buddies normally are sans a weapon.

Aron, very tactful reply, goes to show your integrity and why many regard you as one of the best back country hunters of our time. My reply will be less tactful. OP you are a moron.

Seriously.... This is quite laughable. Aron I obviously don't know what the convo between you and Jason went like but I'm sure I can guess. Anyway I think it's hilarious that Kuiu would say anything about photos being misrepresented, when a ton of their photo and promotional material is not even shot while hunting. Stuff like this does nothing but make me want to spend what little money I plan to send to Kuiu in the future somewhere else.

Crap like this is what makes forums seem not worth spending time on sometimes. If the OP was calling out Aaron he should have just sent him a P.M and asked him why companies do that before talking sh!t. Aaron nice work during the last year. Stay tough keyboard tough guys.

I'll take it a step further, I really could care less if they hired a model to pose behind the animal to help with the advertisement of a product. Someone running a business in the outdoor industry doesn't have to be exempt from marketing strategies. It's the world we live in. I don't watch a Chevy truck commercial and think the guy drove him in that truck. Maybe the hunter who shot it is ugly. Haha, just a joke.

How do you know Jason had anything bad to say about Aron??

Aron, I think everybody knows you're probably the most unlikely guy to be a poser. Btw, I'm been thinking about the new Cargo Panel. Did you use it to pack any of these awesome animals out?
