Place to try packs in central Texas?

Currently using an Eberlestock M5 that doesn't fit right. Looking to upgrade to a kifaru, stone glacier, etc. Don't want to buy blindly. Want to try them and get fitted if at all possible. I'm located in Georgetown TX. North Austin. Any help is appreciated.

Unless you can find an individual to let you try on their personal pack and it will have to be adjusted most likely, you will likely have to order a few packs and return the ones you don't like. I'm pretty sure Kifaru has a 30day return window,i think some of the others do too. The great thing about the top end pack companies, if a pack is clean and not outdated, even if you keep it for a while, you can sell it in August for probably 90+% of what you paid for it to the guy's that decide at the last second they want a better pack for a hunt in September.

There's an REI in Round Rock off I35 close to 1431. That's gonna be your best bet of finding any decent packs to try on in that area.

Yeah I have been there and the one in Austin. I live about 7 minutes from the round rock one lol. But, to my knowledge, they don't have the packs I'm looking for.

I want a gun boot like my Eberlestock M5. Hydration bladder. And room for my ranch trip stuff and spotting scope, extra clothes, etc. While still being able to haul out a cape and antlers and meat. And not kill my back. I want my gun facing muzzle down and be able to access it without taking my bag off fast if possible.

Yeah, you'll have to buy and try. Not many around that area and even fewer dropping that much coin on a hunting pack. Good luck with your search.

Im about two hours south of you and I have the newStone Glacier X-Curve frame in a medium along with the new Sky 5900 pack. I'll be going to ATX next week to pick a few things up, I'd be happy to bring it along if you wanted to meet up and try it out. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

I've read a few times, guys are taking rifle scabbard off their eberlestock to put on Kifaru pack

I appreciate the offer but I'll be away for work for a bit. I think my plan going forward it to have REI measure my torsoe and then call Kifaru or whoever I pick and discuss the options. My only issue is finding somewhere to help fit them to me.

You just need to call Kifaru, they don't use torso measurements, and the pack will be very close to right when you get it. They will need some other measurements though but it's not rocket science and it's stuff you probably already know.

You could go to the train to hunt event in texas. There will be plenty of packs there. I'm not sure where it will be.

I'm in Cedar Park and have the new Tarryall pack. It's not the Duplex frame....Just sold that to downsize a bit. The duplex is way more then I needed. Feel free to PM me and I'll plan to meet you at REI off mopac if you like. I'm off the next 3 days.
