Piss Ant vs. Norma at NRL

Just "some" rifles?
Haha yeah just some. I still don’t think I would totally get away from shooting bullets 150fps faster AND having less recoil in the same platform and just throwing in a set of ear plugs.

I wont even hunt with someone that doesnt have a can anymore. They are so easy to get nowdays for those of us that live in free states for the time being.

I’m sure I would like using them, and if I went through the trouble of buying and adapting all my setups to best utilize suppressors, I’d probably feel the say way.

But until then, we can’t hunt together 😔😔.

Time to fully crossover to the side of the enlightened

Monogamy is for marriage not weapons.

I have a tikka. I love it. I dont need another tikka. I could be talked into a Blaser R8.

But my next build will be an Africa cape buffalo gun probably in 9.3x74 or 375 H&H

Does it stay put? What don't you like? Does it count towards your rifle weight?
It pretty much stays where you put it. Obviously, you can shift it around depending on what you're doing.

I am just not sold on the part that goes under the buttstock vs having the buttstock contact my support bag directly.

Yes, it counts against your rifle weight.

Awesome write up! I think there is a lot to consider in it as far as variables and conditions, but all in all I am not surprised the bigger gun came out on top as far as hits. It is what the wez would say all thing equal and I dont think it is incidental that a seemingly proficient shooter(through virtual medium you seem to be practiced and precise) proved it.

I kind of get rattled when people just make blanket statements about subjects like this that are not black and white, but it also seems like most of the time it comes from a good place so whatever.

Point is magnums do provide some advantages and I think, especially in one shot scenarios or hunting situations, a shooter can choose to use the bigger gun and not be wrong in doing so.

I agree with everything stated here 100%. It was a good test. Will I do it again? No lol.

Also very important to clarify. A PROPERLY SET UP MAGNUM. Not just any magnum, because it's a magnum.

This gun was almost 12lbs, with a muzzle brake, a well designed stock, a .39 G7 bullet going over 3,000fps with only 18ft lbs of felt recoil. I could have easily shot like shit with a tikka ultralight 300 win mag and barnes bullets or some shit. Platform and choices matter A LOT, and even more so as you get into the bigger and bigger cartridges IMO.

I also hit WAY less targets than the guys shooting 25 cals hahaha. This was just a personal comparison between my two setups though.

These are hit rates at 600 yards based off the 10 shot groups and SD’s for each gun just prior to doing the shoot. And a 2MPH SD in the wind category. 600 yards seemed like an average yardage we shot at a lot and 8x12 plate for the 600 yard shots was probably fitting for the animals they had out there.
