Piss Ant vs. Norma at NRL

I’m checking in on the scores periodically since i have some friends shooting. You’re doing great. Far better than most first timers i have seen!
My score is fake though.

I’m walking up 2 shooters ahead of my turn and finding all the targets, untimed.

I’m here to shoot and compare scores between the two rifles from various forced field positions. It wouldn’t be a fair comparison if I timed out on a bunch of stages with one gun and not the other.

I would ABSOLUTELY have timed out several times and put up dogshit scores on several stages if I was having to find all the targets.

My score you see is just strictly shooting from the shitty positions 🤣. Not finding the targets first.

These guys finding AND shooting everything in the time frame are the real ones. Not me lol.

Day 1 is a wrap. We shot 11 stages today. I shot 9 with the 22CM and 2 with the 7-300 NMI.

Like I said above, I’m pre-finding the targets, so I can do a better shooting comparison. The positions are FAR from ideal out here lol. It’s also still very much a rushed thing. I even timed out on one stage still just by simply not being able to build a position on a super steep hill with the gear I brought.

I’d say 1/2 my misses were high and 1/2 the misses were wind calls or just dispersion. Like barely missing the edge of a squirrel at 500 yards or something. Could just be dispersion. I believe the high hits are due to sub par positioning and support.

Stages 9-17 (we started on stage 9) were with the 22 CM. And then I grabbed the 7-300 when we rotated around to stage 1. So 1 & 2 are with the norma. And I’ll shoot 6 more stages with it tomorrow.

8 is a max score per stage. That’s first round hit (worth 2 points) on the 4 different engagements. 1 point is awarded for a 2nd round hit. Max of 2 shots per engagement.

Neither gun has had any functional issues so far. EDIT: I take that back. I remember now on one stage I cycled a round in my 22CM and couldn’t cock the bolt closed. I just cycled a new piece in and it was fine. Not sure if I had debris or something on the shoulder of the case or what happened. I didn’t spend long assessing why it happened honestly.

Well done! No 0’s on your first day is always good!

Enjoying this thread a lot, it'll be super interesting to hear your thoughts after all is said and done with this particular test.
I’m really enjoying shooting this thing honestly. It’s good fun. And also very appreciative to be paired up with a great shooting squad who are also very helpful!

I originally planned to document stage info, like yardages and positions and what not. But it’s just much more fast paced than I anticipated. I’d say 1/2 the shooting is from obscure prone positions and 1/2 is from seated/kneeling positions though. Ranges from 250 to 940 yards so far.

Yeah I’m happy about that. Already thinking about targets I shouldn’t have missed and what not though 🤣🤣

It's been great shooting with you @huntnful

Anyone wanting to follow scores live tomorrow as we finish up, Google Impact Scoring and then search MDT NRL.
Likewise dude!

@Justin Crossley is the member that reached out and offered a spot on his squad and to help me shorten the learning curve. I didn’t want to give him any unwanted publicity before the match lol. I’ve been silently following him up to his stage and glassing behind him for targets while he runs his stage. He’s an exceptional shooter and his ability to find targets is actually unreal haha.
