Benchmade right now but I commissioned one a few months ago that I will have done in a few months I'm really excited for
Do you know if Joel is still making knives? I follow his stuff on FB but he hasn't posted any updates in a long time. Did I miss the boat on getting one of his?
The blade is 4½" of O1 carbon steel, full flat ground & heat treated to 60rwc. The handle is G10 with stainless pins.Care to share the details of that knife? And who made it?

I like it a lot. It's definitely not a detail knife but for taking the hide off with ease, it works great. With it being titanium and having the carbide edge it's like a serrated edge and works very well at separating the skin from the fascia/meat. The serrated like blade allows you to work fast and you don't really have to worry about slipping or making a bad cut and cutting through the hide. It will cut through the hide but you have to try to do that. I also have a Havalon but I don't like using it as much for general skinning, because it's so sharp I'm not able to work as fast or I end up making a lot of mistakes and cutting through the hide. One little slip with the Havalon and you're through the hide, but not so with the ti Kestrel. I'm also a big fan of UL gear as long as it works well and I don't think there is a lighter skinning knife out there.
